Royal Enfield Launches Interceptor 650 Lightning & Continental GT 650 Thunder in International Markets

Royal Enfield recently announced 2 new special-edition bike models for the International market. The company pulled the covers off of the Interceptor 650 Lightning edition and Continental GT 650 Thunder edition. Both bikes have stellar looks but are simply standard models modified with factory accessories.

Royal Enfield has built its Interceptor 650 Lightning edition with a range of accessories giving it a spectacular scrambler-inspired look. A few of the additional modifications the brand has done include

  • Touring Mirrors,
  • Fly Screen,
  • A Touring Seat,
  • An Aluminium Sump Guard,
  • Small Engine Guards,
  • A CNC Oil Filler Cap,
  • Removable Soft Panniers.

Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 Lightning edition price is set at £6,459 in Europe (roughly converts to Rs 6.38 lakh in the Indian Currency).

Having said that, Royal Enfield has also launched its Continental GT 650 Thunder edition. This bike also comes with similar add-on accessories as the Interceptor Lightning edition bike. Continental GT 650 Thunder edition price is set at Rs £6,659 (roughly converts to Rs 6.58 lakh in the Indian Currency).

Apart from the accessories mentioned above, the rest seems to be the same as before. The hardware, engine and features on these new edition bikes remain similar to their standard counterparts. Both models are built with the same 648 cc, parallel-twin, air/oil-cooled engine that belts out 47 bhp of power output at 7,150 rpm and 52 Nm of torque at 5,250 rpm. Transmission duties are still handled by a 6-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch.

And even though these special editions are not hitting the Indian market, all the accessories can be purchased through RE’s official accessory catalogue. So, really, we aren't missing out on a lot.
