What is CC in Bikes? Know its Full Form, Meaning and Importance
What is CC in Bikes? Know its Full Form, Meaning and Importance
CalendarPublished on April 26, 2024 by BikeJunction
For bike enthusiasts worldwide, speed and CC are common factors they consider when choosing a bike. CC is often used to describe a motorcycle's engine size or power. Now, the question arises: What precisely does CC mean, and why is it important? In this blog, we will learn what CC stands for in a motorbike, as well as its full form, meaning, and overall significance. Understanding CC in Bikes: The full form of cc in bike, known for Cubic Capacity, refers to engine displacement. It influences power, torque, speed, fuel efficiency, and weight. Choosing the right CC is, therefore, essential for optimal performance and ride experience. What is meant by cc in bike? As already discussed above, cc full form in bike stands for Cubic capacity. When discussing motorcycle engines, cubic capacity represents the wide variety of combustion chambers in which the fuel-air combination is burned. One cubic capacity is the same as the variety of cubes measuring 1 cm × 1 cm × 1 cm. Understanding Engine Displacement: Engine displacement, or the total volume of all the cylinders in the engine, significantly powers a bike's overall performance, output, gasoline performance, and weight.  What is Engine Displacement?  Engine displacement is regularly referred to as displacement, which is the whole quantity of all of the cylinders in the engine. It is calculated by multiplying the location of the cylinder bore (the diameter of the cylinder) through the stroke (the gap the piston travels within the cylinder) and using the range of cylinders in the engine. Calculating Engine Displacement: The formula to calculate engine displacement is:Engine Displacement (cc)= π / 4 × Bore² × Stroke × Number of CylindersWhere:- π (pi) is approximately 3.1416- Bore is the diameter of the cylinder in centimetres- Stroke is the length of the piston stroke in centimetres Why is Engine Displacement Important? Engine displacement is a vital element in determining a motorbike's overall performance, electricity output, and gas performance. Motorcycles with big engine displacements provide greater energy and torque. However, they consume extra gas. Conversely, bikes with smaller engine displacements are commonly more fuel-efficient but can also have much less power. Importance of CC in Bikes: CC, or Cubic capacity, is crucial in bikes because it determines power, torque, speed, fuel performance, weight, and insurance prices. Choosing the proper CC is important for fulfilling riding enjoyment. 1. Power Output: One of the most sizeable factors affected by engine displacement is a motorbike's strength output. Generally, bikes with higher engine displacements produce extra power and torque. As the engine's scale increases, so do the power and acceleration. 2. Torque:  Torque is the twisting strain that causes rotation, and it plays a crucial position in a motorcycle's overall performance, specifically in the course of acceleration. Bikes with better engine displacements generally offer extra torque, thinking about quicker acceleration and better universal overall performance, particularly at decreased speeds. 3. Speed: A larger engine displacement frequently results in higher initial speeds. Motorcycles with higher CC engines are commonly able to accomplish better speeds. This is especially effective for riders who experience long-distance travelling or dual highway riding. 4. Fuel Efficiency: Now, motorcycles with larger displacement engines tend to produce more power and consume more fuel. On the other side, motorcycles with small displacement engines are generally more fuel-efficient. They are ideal for daily commuting and city use, where fuel economy is key. 5. Weight:  An engine displacement can also affect the weight of the bike. A bike with a bigger engine displacement is usually heavier because there are more components to support the bigger engine. In contrast, bikes with small displacement engines are smaller, making them easier to handle and use, especially on rough surfaces or heavy visitor sites. 6. Cost of Insurance: Engine relocation can impact the cost of renting a bike. Motorcycles with high displacement engines are generally more expensive to insure due to the increased power and speed. Research shows that bikes with small displacement engines tend to be relatively inexpensive. How Does the Bike CC Affect Bike Insurance Premium? In India, your motorcycle's cubic capacity (CC) plays a substantial role in figuring out its motorcycle insurance top class.  Here's how:Compulsory third party insurance: The top class for compulsory third party insurance is constant through the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) based totally on the CC of the motorcycle. This approach is that for this simple insurance, a higher CC motorcycle may have a better premium than a lower CC motorcycle.Comprehensive riding coverage: While CC remains a concern, it reduces its impact on premiums for a complete insurance plan. Other factors, which include version, age, claims history, geographic area, and decided add-ons, also play a vital role. Bike Insurance Premiums for Different CC Bikes: Slabs for CC of the BikeThird-party Two-wheelers Insurance Cost Up to 75 ccRs. 482Exceeding 75 cc and up to 150 ccRs. 752Exceeding 150 cc and up to 350 ccRs. 1193Above 350 ccRs. 2323 How CC Affects Different Types of Bikes? The engine displacement affects the performance and character of the bike. Smaller CC bikes are ideal for touring, while larger CC bikes, such as cruisers and sports bikes, offer more power and speed. 1. Commuter Bikes:  For commuting, motorcycles with smaller engine displacements are regularly chosen. Commuter bikes are gas-efficient, lightweight, and offer the right manoeuvrability, making them ideal for navigating through city website visitors. These motorcycles commonly fall below the category of 125 cc bikes in india. The best 125 cc motorcycle in India is the TVS Raider 125 and the Hero Xtreme 160 R. 2. Cruisers: Cruiser motorcycles frequently have large engine displacements to provide the best power and torque for comfortable toll-road cruising. Higher engine displacement allows cruisers to preserve excessive speeds conveniently, making long rides greater fun. 3. Sports Bikes: Sports bikes are recognised for their high-overall performance engines, normally with large engine displacements. This guarantees fast acceleration and smooth speeds, which may be vital for motorcycle fanatics' sports activities. 4. Off-Road and Adventure Bikes: Off-adventure and journey bikes have diverse engine displacements. Smaller engine displacements are regularly preferred for off-road use because they are lightweight and agile. However, larger engine displacements are also common for adventure bikes to provide the necessary power and torque for long-distance travelling and rancid-road adventures. Conclusion: Understanding what CC stands for in a bike and its significance is critical for every motorcycle enthusiast. CC, or Cubic capacity, refers to the engine displacement, that is the complete wide variety of all of the cylinders inside the engine. Engine displacement influences a motorcycle's usual overall performance, electricity output, gasoline performance, and weight. It is important to select a bike with the right engine displacement based mostly on your riding style, preferences, and intended use. Whether you pick out each day commuting, lengthy-distance journeying, or high-speed cruising, there may be a motorbike with the right engine displacement to meet your desires and choices.  FAQs Q1. Upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 400: Official Teaser Revealed
Upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 400: Official Teaser Revealed
CalendarPublished on April 24, 2024 by BikeJunction
Bajaj has been working on the new and biggest addition to its Pulsar series for quite a while now. After months of waiting, The brand has finally released its first official teaser of its upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 400. This upcoming Pulsar 400 is probably going to share the same perimeter chassis as the Pulsar NS200. While the engine will be the same as the Dominar 400. Bajaj Auto is going to position its Pulsar 400 below the Dominar, making it the brand’s most affordable 40 hp Bajaj Bikes in the 400 cc segment. Bajaj Pulsar 400 First TeaserThe upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 400 is shceduled for launch on 3rd May 2024. The brand has been tight slipped about anything related to the upcoming model, however, this little sneak peak has led us into the new design of the bike. Now, looking closely to the teaser, it seems like compared to the NS250, Pulsar 400 is going to have a redesigned rear tyre hugger, hinting on a fatter rear tyre. Bajaj Pulsar 400 EngineBajaj Auto definitely has a comprehensive range of specs. With the engine borrowed from the current Dominar 400, 373 cc single-cylinder engine, which is already present in RC 390 and KTM 390 Adventure. But, even though the Bajaj Pulsar 400 engine is the same as the Dominar and the KTM motorcycles, the Dominar produces 40 PS and 35 Nm. Meanwhile, the KTM bike engine produces a max power output of 43.5 PS and 37 NM torque. This engine is further tuned to an efficient 6-speed gearbox system. Bajaj Pulsar 400 Top SpecsBajaj Pulsar 400 is going to be equipped with the slip-and-assist clutch as standard, while the quick-shifter could be either optional or only available for the top-spec variant. Looking at the other hardware specs, the upcoming Pulsar 400 could share the same chassis as the Pulsar NS200. The sturdy perimeter frame has already been proven that it can easily support higher-capacity engines. However, it is likely that it will get some additional upgrades to make it easily suitable for the biggest Pulsar bike yet. Upcoming Pulsar 400 FeaturesAs for the features, Bajaj Pulsar 400 will be coming with USP front forks and a monoshok rear suspension system for the smoothest riding experience for the riders. Thanks to this suspension, riders will easily be able to ride through uneven terrains easily without any issues. Coming down to the braking system, this bike is going to feature disc brakes, along with a dual-channel ABS as a standard feature. The upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 400 will also come with a completely digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity. This will be extra beneficial for users to stay connected on the go. Furthermore, it will also come with a turn-by-turn navigation system, all-LED lighting and an underbelly exhaust system. Bajaj Pulsar 400 Price RangeThere are rumours going around that the upcoming Pulsar 400 could have a limited-edition launch offer for its customers. The pricing could be anywhere around Rs 2 lakh, at least for the initial launch. Bajaj Auto would want to create the utmost hype for its biggest Pulsar yet. And this competitive pricing will definitely going to play a major role in developing the much-needed hype. But if not Rs 2 lakhs, the most realistic price range would be around Rs 2.10 lakhs, but probably not more than that. This seems actually most appropriate, given that the Dominar 400 price in India starts at Rs 2.31 lakhs.Thoughts on this Huge LaunchWith the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 400 launch, the entire Pulsar bikes by Bajaj will come to its full potential. But the moment Bajaj started planning to launch this 400cc bike, it actually had the option to use the Pulsar name. However, the Pulsar brand was naturally associated with commuter/lower-capacity bikes. This is why the decision was made to create an entirely different brand - Dominar. Now, the brand has come out with Pulsar 400, and we’ll have to see if it is capable of sharing a larger share in the sub-500cc segment. Before you go, don’t forget to check out the recent news coverage on the recent price hike on Triumph Speed 400 & Scrambler 400 X.  Follow us for the Latest Bike Industry UpdatesFacebook - https://bit.ly/BikeJunction_offl_fbInstagram-  https://bit.ly/BikeJunction_ofl_insta                    Twitter - https://bit.ly/BikeJunction_ofl_twitter
