Bajaj Tackles CNG Tank Safety Issues in Freedom 125 CNG Bike
July 6, 2024

Bajaj has launched the Freedom 125 in India at a starting price of Rs 95,000. It is the world's first CNG bike, and many customers might worry about the safety of having a CNG tank on a bike. Every year, many CNG cars fail, and bikes are more exposed than cars. Bajaj assures that the bike has been thoroughly tested for safety. The manufacturer says the bike has passed 11 different crash and impact tests at their test facility. How Bajaj Tested the New Freedom 125 CNG Bike Bajaj tested the bike from different angles. In the Front Collision Test, the Freedom 125 CNG bike crashed into a 1.5-ton moving barrier at a speed of 60kmph. Moreover, the company also did a Truck Runover Test, where a 10-ton truck was driven over the CNG bike. This test simulates a situation where the rider falls off and the bike gets run over by a truck. In both the Front Collision Test and the Truck Runover Test, the bike handled the impacts well. The CNG tank stayed in place, kept its shape, and did not leak.Bajaj also performed nine other tests: a Frontal Pendulum Test, a Rear Impact Test, a Left Side Impact Test, a Right Side Impact Test, a Vertical Drop Test, a 50kg Filling Unit Strength Test, two types of CNG Valve Impact Tests (to see if the valve breaks on impact), and a 20G Pull Out Test. Impact tests involved hitting the bike with a moving barrier, while drop tests involved dropping the bike from a height. What is Bajaj Providing in Freedom 125 CNG Bike?Bajaj designed the trellis frame and subframe to keep the CNG cylinder safe. These frames act like cages to protect the cylinder from damage in a crash. The engine is also placed away from the CNG cylinder, so the heat from the engine doesn’t affect the CNG tank. This is important because the CNG tank holds pressurized gas, which can expand when it gets hot. When filling the CNG tank, you need to get off the bike and stand at least 5 feet away. This safety measure at CNG fuel stations helps prevent accidents in case the CNG cylinder explodes. Before you go, don’t forget to check out the June 2024 FADA two-wheeler sales report. Follow us for the Latest Bike Industry UpdatesFacebook - https://bit.ly/BikeJunction_offl_fb                 Instagram -  https://bit.ly/BikeJunction_ofl_insta                 Twitter - https://bit.ly/BikeJunction_ofl_twitter

KTM to Integrate New Bosch ARAS Functions in Upcoming Model
September 27, 2024

KTM is finally collaborating with Bosch to integrate four of their state-of-the-art, radar-based Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) into a new motorcycle model. This exciting new bike is set to hit the market in November 2024. This brings good news for motorbike enthusiasts as high-tech integrations in the motorcycle industry continue to gain traction. These advancements enhance comfort and safety for bikers while still retaining the thrill of riding.  Introduction to the New Technologies Bosch has announced six radar-based assistance systems-five of which are world premieres. According to Bosch Accident Research, the innovation can prevent up to one in every six accidents on German roads - a number nearly one out of seven from last year's record. The company has already shaken up the motorcycle market in 2020 with its support functions. This will now begin demonstrating four new forms of assistance in a new KTM model later this year, 2024, and mass production is expected to start in 2025.  Bosch wants motorcycling to be safer and more comfortable but does not lose that excitement of riding. “We’re very satisfied with the longstanding collaborative relationship between our development teams, and we’re excited that KTM is the first to put these new functions to use”, says Geoff Liersch, head of Two-Wheeler & Powersports at Bosch. These new features represent another step forward in that mission, and we are excited to join forces with KTM.  What are these Four ARAS Functions? The four new functions to be integrated using front radar technology that will complement the riding experience were created with extra support to give a rider while keeping the core enjoyment of motorcycling intact. What these systems offer is examined closely below:  1. Adaptive Cruise Control - Stop and Go (ACC S&G)Riding through traffic is a challenging task for riders. Bosch came up with the ACC S&G to eliminate this. It is an add-on to the adaptive cruise control system that is already available. With this function, motorbikes are able to stop in traffic jams, and there is no need to press the clutch continuously to regain forward motion. When the bike being followed in line advances again through the mere pressing of a button or just by lightly pressing the throttle. This innovation is the first to provide greater comfort but also increase safety profiles, especially in stop-and-go conditions.  2. Group Ride Assist (GRA)For riders who enjoy riding in groups, achieving enough safe distances may become challenging. The GRA function applies an algorithm to discern staggered formations within the group of riders. It automatically adjusts the speed to maintain appropriate distances from other motorcycles to have a less stressful ride in a group. In that sense, it behaves much like conventional ACC when it's not in use so that it can be flexible in different scenarios.  3. Riding Distance Assist (RDA)In a nutshell, RDA allows the rider to keep a proper distance from the front vehicle so the chance of a rear-end collision is minimised. The feature differs in cruise control. This feature allows the rider to adapt its speed by the throttle, as the system can automatically provide brakes or accelerate less if necessary. It allows the rider to override the feature at any time, and the process is so smooth that it does not affect the riding experience.  4. Emergency Brake AssistEmergency brake assist, or EBA, is a system that is in motion in emergencies when a very swift reaction can make a difference. In such scenarios, if the system figures that an accident might occur, the braking pressure is not sufficient. Moreover, it automatically increases braking pressure to subdue the intervention and finally brings the rider to a quick stop as soon as possible. This may save lives in dire circumstances by possibly avoiding accidents or lessening collision severity as much as possible.  Other Safety FeaturesIn addition to these core features, KTM's new model will also equip two other radar-based functions that assist in rider safety:  Rear Distance Warning (RDW)Observing the traffic approaching the motorcycle from behind, if another vehicle approaches from a too-close distance, the rider is informed of the potential threat. Such added awareness might avoid rear-end collisions and give riders a head start on decisions to be made before such an accident occurs.  Rear Collision Warning (RCW)The RCW system advances further by warning the rear vehicles of the possibility of a back-end collision with the motorcycle. When hazard lights are activated, drivers are warned to reduce their impact on riders in high-risk situations such as stop-and-go traffic or waiting at traffic signals.  Future of MotorcyclingThe infusion of these high-tech ingredients in the new model of KTM. This undoubtedly ensures that everything is going to be different for motorcycles and their designs and marketing in the future. Bosch tried to enhance safety and comfort without diminishing the excitement of motorcycling. With such developments brought into the experience of the ride, the outcome is likely to change the nature of the experience itself, providing a nearly nostalgic and modern twist that captures the hearts of both new and seasoned riders. Before you go, have a look at the India grants design patent for the Honda Beat scooter. Follow us for the Latest Bike Industry UpdatesFacebook - https://bit.ly/BikeJunction_offl_fb   Instagram-  https://bit.ly/BikeJunction_ofl_insta   Twitter - https://bit.ly/BikeJunction_ofl_twitter

Aprilia Unveiled Limited Edition RSV4 X Ex3ma Superbike
September 27, 2024

Aprilia has decided to unveil a new superbike called RSV4 X Ex3ma at $99,000 (Rs. 82,85,270). It will be one of those extremely limited runs of just 30 units across the globe. Aprilia does that as a tribute to 30 years since Max Biaggi won the 1994 250 GP world title with the brand. The RSV4 X Ex3ma will be one of Aprilia's high-performance "X" series. Production is slated to close by the second quarter of 2025.  Built for Maximum Performance The RSV4 X Ex3ma comes with advanced technology inspired by Aprilia’s MotoGP program. It has a powerful 1,099cc V4 engine that produces 230 horsepower. To achieve this power, the bike uses a high compression ratio, a racing air filter, and an SC-Project titanium exhaust.  Aprilia’s electronics system includes features like traction control, engine braking, and wheelie control. Riders can adjust these settings using a laptop that comes with the bike. Moreover, the APX racing ECU helps riders control the bike’s power and performance with great precision.  Groundbreaking Aerodynamics for Better GripThe RSV4 X Ex3ma is the first production motorcycle to use ground-effect aerodynamics. These special features, like the front winglets and spoon-shaped swingarm wings, help create strong downforce. As a result, the bike generates five times more vertical pressure than previous models. This extra pressure makes the bike more stable and helps reduce wheelies.  In addition, when the rider leans into corners, the winglets increase grip by tripling the downforce. This smart design comes directly from Aprilia’s MotoGP RS-GP race bike.  Luxury Components and High-Tech MaterialsAprilia has used top-quality parts to build the RSV4 X Ex3ma. The bike employs Öhlins suspension, which includes the front forks and TTX shock. Moreover, it sports 17-inch carbon fibre wheels with Pirelli World Superbike slick tyres mounted upon them.  The carbon fibre is used for the body of the bike, which gives it a lighter, stronger look. Moreover, several parts including the fenders, engine covers, and fuel caps are also carbon fiber/ aluminium. Lastly, the bike is painted in a special Perla Nera color, inspired by Aprilia's racing past.  Exclusive Ownership ExperienceBuyers can order the RSV4 X Ex3ma online or at Aprilia dealerships. They can also choose to collect the bike at Aprilia’s Racing facility in Noale, Italy. This superbike is rare and built for top performance. With only 30 units available, it is a dream for collectors.  This special edition bike combines Aprilia's best racing technology with top-quality materials and craftsmanship. Before you go, don’t forget to check out the recently unveiled Honda Beat scooter patent. Follow us for the Latest Bike Industry UpdatesFacebook - https://bit.ly/BikeJunction_offl_fb    Instagram-  https://bit.ly/BikeJunction_ofl_insta    Twitter - https://bit.ly/BikeJunction_ofl_twitter
