Bullet 350 will be positioned below the Classic 350 and continue to bring the hand-painted strips.
The future Bullet internally has a nickname J1B, as planned by Classic 350 Bobber. It is part of redesigning Royal Enfield's basic platform, which has 350cc engines. The new Bullet, like the new-age Classic 350, will get a new heart and body. However, it will keep its form factor and character to strengthen its position in the Royal Enfield portfolio.
Royal Enfield Bikes in India has been experiencing a rush of new competitors including Harley Davidson and Triumph with their affordable latest bikes. The competitive disruption comes when Royal Enfield is at its strongest-ever position. The likes of Jawa, Yezdi and Honda could barely impact Royal Enfield.
The supremacy of RE in the above-125cc motorbike market, as one out of every three vehicles sold in FY23 was a Royal Enfield. Despite new Entry into the premium motorbike sector, the business raised its market share to 32-33%.
The brand, RE, is experiencing a successful start with introducing its model, the Hunter, which has attracted many new, young buyers. However, the brand's traditional focus on Classic models has slightly weakened RE's plans to introduce new models, such as the Meteor and the new Bullet, as part of its pricing strategy. It is set to counter new competition and strengthen its position in the Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 1.75 lakh segment.
The company plans to target prospective buyers, including college students, a middle-income salary individual, and a businessman with the new Bullet. "The Bullet isn't just owned; it's passed down through the generations." It will preserve its appearance, sound, and personality. It will be a good balance of man and machine, rational, tough, durable, and rock solid, and given the new architecture, pricing may rise by Rs 10,000 to 12,000, informed the RE personnel.
The architecture and design of the new Bullet will be built on a redesigned chassis, bigger front tyres, and improved brakes for stability and stopping power. A tiny digital instrument cluster, a redesigned look, and an improved fit and finish will be included. According to insiders, Bullet's shift from old to new will be identical to that of the Classic motorbike.
Although it belongs to the 'J' platform, efforts will be made to distinguish the bike and give it a unique character and personality. Its fuel tank and panels will retain the traditional hand-painted pinstripes.
The Royal Enfield's 70-80% of overall sales comes from the northern and southern parts of the country. The vintage motorcycle that can easily cross terrains are simple yet rugged, built on a solid construction suitable for army and police.
