The Ducati Hypermotard 950 SP is currently available in India for Rs 19.05 Lakh. Known for its bold and incredible performance, this motorcycle offers a thrilling ride powered by a powerful 937cc Testastretta engine and advanced electronics. Moreover, it is equipped with Ducati Quick Shift, Ducati Traction Control, and Cornering ABS, which ensures an enjoyable riding experience on city roads and challenging terrain.
Highlights:
- Ohlins suspension, forged aluminium wheels
- 2kg lighter, 20mm taller seat
- Costs Rs 3 Lakh more than the Hypermotard 950 RVE
The SP variant represents the culmination of Ducati’s Hypermotard 950 lineup, with premium features. The most important improvement is the adoption of Ohlins suspension for the front and rear. These fully adjustable units not only surpass the standard Marsocchi/Sachs setup found on the normal Hypermotard but also bring notable flexibility in its specifications.
The Ohlins USD fork has been upgraded to an improved 48mm diameter (up from 45mm), with wheel travel extended from 170mm to 185mm. Similarly, the Ohlins monoshock now supports significantly more wheel travel, increasing from 150mm to 175mm.
The SP features lightweight Marchesini forged wheels, which Ducati claims contribute to a 2kg weight reduction. But even without fuel, the Hypermotard weighs 191kg, up to 200kg, with a full 14.5-litre fuel tank. Seat height is another consideration, at 890mm, 20mm higher than the Hypermotard RVE.
The chassis and braking system remain unchanged, although the SP Hypermotard RVE is equipped with grippier Pirelli Supercorsa SP tyres, unlike the Pirelli Rosso 3s. The 937cc L-twin engine also retains its specification, producing 114hp and 96Nm of torque. However, this engine is specially designed for more aggressive performance and outstanding exhaust sound, as confirmed when we ride the Hypermotard RVE.
In terms of looks, the bike looks a lot like the RVE model, highlighted mainly by the distinctive SP models and specially designed Marchesini wheels. Priced at Rs 19.05 lakh, the Hypermotard SP commands a premium of Rs 3 lakh over the Hypermotard RVE. It ranks as the third most expensive Ducati with a 937cc L-twin engine, beating out the DesertX and Multistrada V2 S models. Only the Supersport S and DesertX Rally are positioned at a higher price point in Ducati’s lineup.
The Hypermotard SP represents an exceptionally exclusive iteration of an already niche motorcycle, underscoring Ducati India's commendable effort to provide customers with this opportunity.
