Ducati DesertX Rally design has a trellis body and is powered by a 937 cc liquid-cooled L-Twin engine with eight Desmodromic-activated valves. The Ducati DesertX Rally delivered 108 bhp at 9,250 rpm and 92 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Enhancements include an Ohlins adjustable steering damper and a revised attachment factor for the aluminium swingarm.   Furthermore, the braking system remains unchanged, with twin 320 mm front discs and a 265 mm rear disc.
