In the first month of FY25, sales figures for the top six two-wheeler companies in India were revealed. All OEMs showcased varying performances. Hero MotoCorp, the leading player, experienced a remarkable surge. Other brands include TVS Motor Company, Bajaj, Suzuki, and Royal Enfield. These sales figures provide insights into the competitive landscape of the Indian two-wheeler industry.

In April 2024, Hero MotoCorp saw an impressive increase in sales. 533,585 units were sold, up 34.7% from sales in April 2023. Also, the company has improved from sales in March 2024, which increased by 9%.
Significantly, Hero's motorcycles, especially the Hero Extreme 125R, became popular and led to mass production. Domestic sales increased by 32.90%, to 513,296 units, while exports grew by an impressive 104.47%. Hero’s new flagship model, the Maverick 440, made a huge impact.
Last month, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India saw a significant surge in sales, with a 34.3% increase compared to March 2024, selling 3,58,151 units. Compared to April 2023, the increase was even more substantial, at 42.2%, with sales reaching 3,38,289 units. Honda's updated Africa Twin design has been patented in India, indicating the company's focus on innovation.
TVS Motor Company achieved a robust 27% growth in total two-wheeler sales compared to April 2023. It sold 3,74,592 units, up from 294,786 units a year ago. Motorcycle sales increased 24%, compared to 1,52,365 units in April 2023 It reached 1,88,110 units.
Scooter sales also increased by 34% to 1,44,126 compared to 1,07,496 last year, indicating high consumer demand. Domestic sales grew 29%, with 3,01,449 units sold, while exports rose 18% to
73,143 units. These sales figures reflect TVS’ strong performance and good market performance.
Bajaj two-wheeler sales rose 19% in April 2024 as compared to April 2023. The company’s total sales were 3,41,789, up from 2,87,985 in the previous year. Domestic sales rose 19%, 2,16,950 units, while exports also rose 18% to 1,24,839 units. This means that there is a huge demand for Bajaj motorcycles and scooters in India and internationally.
Suzuki continued its strong sales run in April 2024, marking its fourth month of over 80,000 sales. They registered an increase of 2.20% from March 2024, selling 86,164 units. Compared to April 2023, Suzuki grew by 31%, with 67,259 units. Recently, Suzuki achieved a milestone by passing the 8 Million unit production mark.
Royal Enfield, the iconic Indian motorcycle maker, reported strong sales, totalling 81,870 units, up 12% from April 2023. The sub-350cc segment, which includes models like the Bullet and Classic, saw 13% growth with 72,866 units sold.
Sales of bikes above 350cc, including Himalayan and 650 Twins, rose 7% to 9,004 units. Notably, exports increased by 61% to 6,832 units, reflecting Royal Enfield’s global expansion.
