Why Is Triumph Recalling Tiger Sport 660 And Trident 660 Models?
Why Is Triumph Recalling Tiger Sport 660 And Trident 660 Models?
CalendarPublished on March 1, 2024 by BikeJunction
On February 14 2024, Triumph Motorcycle America issued a safety recall for its - Trident 660s and Tiger Sport 660s models. As per the NHTSA's Safety Recall Report, China claimed the first service warranty back in mid-July. Then, two more claims from China came by late August month. This situation led Triumph Motorcycles to start an investigation to find the cause of these continual claims. When the quality department submitted its findings on February 24, 2024, Triumph realised that detaching front fork caps was the cause of this issue. Also, it involves the replacement of the MAP hose, which can create issues with the MAP sensor. Triumph adds to the report that bikes produced before May 2022 were affected by the recall due to a machining error, which has since been corrected.Triumph Bikes Affected After the RecallAround 107 bikes sold in the US are believed to be facing issues due to improperly machined front fork caps. The table given below provides the production date for the models recalled by Triumph Motorcycle America.  Model Name Production DateTriumph Trident 660May 18, 2022 to April 28, 2022Triumph Tiger Sport 660 May 5, 2022 to May 24, 2022The fork caps inserted during the production could have their threads torn away, thereby detaching from the fork tube. Both models have incorrectly machined threads on fork caps, causing detachment. This results in poor performance, causing high risk in controlling vehicles and preventing potential crashes. Now, let's quickly go through the features, engine, and its ability to provide various ride experiences. Tiger Sport 660 The Tiger Sport 660 boasts a powerful 3-cylinder engine, delivering Triumph's signature triple sound and performance. This ensures an enhanced riding experience, from premium Showa suspension, Nissin brakes, and Michelin Road 5 tyres. Tiger Sport 660 features include ABS, full LED lighting, and traction control. Moreover, this model ensures a convenient ride with a 17-litre fuel tank and integrated pannier mounts. Also, its adjustable screen allows the rider to manoeuvre the bike at their convenience. Trident 660 The TRIDENT 660 is a high-class model with competitive pricing.
