Royal Enfield Sales Report Jan 2023 Clocks in 27% Growth & 22% Drop in Exports

In January 2023, Royal Enfield announced its sales, and the company's total sales (domestic + exports) were at 74,746 units, representing a 27% rise in volumes year over year. However, the motorbike manufacturer sold 58,838 units in January 2022, a low baseline brought on by a market that was recovering in the post-pandemic era.

Last month, sales were 74,746 units, an increase of 27.04 % over the 58,838 units sold in January 2022. There was a 15,908 unit increase in volume. Sales within the country increased, but exports experienced a loss.

Compared to its larger models, Royal Enfield motorcycles in the sub-350cc market performed better. Sales in the 8.78 % market-share-commanding 350cc segment. 6,563 units were sold in this market sector over the last month, which is a 29.06 % decrease from the 9,252 units sold in January 2022.

Domestic sales increased by 36.15%, from 49,112 units in January 2022 to 67,702 units in January 2023, while exports fell by 22.70%, from 9,112 units sent in January 2022 to 7,044 units this month.

In MoM sales, a comparable situation arose. 350cc motorcycle sales growth experienced an 8.56% decline. In December 2022, 61,223 units and 7,177 units, respectively, had been sold. On an MoM basis, domestic sales increased by 13.17% to 59,821 units sold in December 2022, while exports decreased by 17.89% to 8,579 units exported in the same month.

From April 2022 to January 2023, 6,91,116 Royal Enfield motorcycles were sold. From April 2021 to January 2022, 4,75,431 units were sold, a growth of 45%. Sales of Royal Enfield motorcycles in the 350cc class increased by 11% to 82,344 units from 74,346 units sold between April and January 2022.

From 64,807 units exported in the months of April 2021 to January 2022, exports increased by 24% to 80,596 units from April 2022 to January 2023. The company will start exporting the RE Super Meteor 650 - Astral, Interstellar, and Celestial to international markets at the beginning of this month. This might make it possible for the business to increase exports in the upcoming months.
