The Interceptor 650 from Royal Enfield has been introduced in the UK with new alloy wheels and a fresh paint scheme. It is expected that this new version will soon be released in India as well. We can take a closer look at the bike in these detailed images.
The Interceptor 650 is now available in a blacked-out paint scheme called Black Ray, with all body parts coated in this colour. The fuel tank and side panels provide a contrast with a golden theme.
The Interceptor shares similarities with the Super Meteor 650. One of the common features includes an LED headlight accompanied by halogen indicators.
Additionally, the Black Ray edition also features a single-piece seat covered with a quilted design and a tubular grab rail at the back. These designs are identical to the standard version. The bike is powered by a 648 cc parallel-twin engine that delivers 47 bhp at 7,150 rpm and 52 Nm at 5,250 rpm. It is connected to a six-speed gearbox and positioned within a cradle frame.
The launch of the Interceptor 650 in the UK brought a crucial upgrade, which is the addition of alloy wheels. In contrast, the current version available in India comes with spoked wheels. Now, the problem is that spoked wheels pose restrictions in the incidence of a puncture.
The bike is equipped with 100/90 front and 130/70 rear tyres. Meanwhile, the telescopic front forks, twin gas-charged rear shocks, front 320mm disc, and rear 240mm disc with dual-channel ABS all remain unaltered.
The bike boasts a twin-pod instrument console that displays information such as speedometer readings, odometer readings, trip metre, fuel level indicator, and Tripper Navigation. We anticipate that Royal Enfield will introduce the revised edition that conforms to OBD 2 standards in India in the near future.
This implies that the bike will be furnished with an OBD sensor to keep track of emissions in real-time. Currently, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is priced at Rs 3.21 lakh (on-road Chandigarh), and with the inclusion of alloy wheels, we anticipate that the price will increase even further.
