The Himalayan 450 Speedo has a clutter-free cockpit, while the current Himalayan 411 has a multi-dial setup.
The upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 test mules are spotted in multiple locations. The spy shots of the speedometer provide a glimpse into the bike's design and features. The Himalayan 450 is expected to be launched in September of this year, possibly making its debut at the 2023 EICMA event.
The Himalayan 450 will compete against rivals like the KTM 390 Adventure, BMW G 310 GS, and Yezdi Adventure. The expected price range of Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh seems reasonable considering the competition and the features the Himalayan 450 will likely offer.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 instrumentation includes a circular console with a diameter of around 4 to 6 inches. It gives a sense of the design and size of the speedometer. It places the RPM gauge towards the outer circumference of the console and the gear position indicator.
The speedometer in the centre allows for easy visibility and readability for the rider.
The console is angled at around 60° to 70°, providing a clear view to the rider without requiring them to take their eyes completely off the road. This design enhances safety by allowing riders to glance at the speedometer quickly. In addition, the digital screen will likely display additional information such as the fuel indicator, trip meter and other relevant data. Royal Enfield has taken a practical and user-friendly approach with the design of the speedometer for the Himalayan 450. The simplicity of a single console can offer advantages such as ease of use and readability while riding.
The new design compares to the existing Himalayan 411 instrumentation, which consists of four separate dials. The current Himalayan features two analog dials, one dedicated to the fuel gauge. At the same time, the main console combines an analog speedometer with a digital trip meter and clock. Additionally, there is a separate digital dial for the gear indicator. Although this setup has its visual appeal, a single console with integrated features can provide a more user-friendly experience.
The Himalayan 450 speedometer is likely to have Bluetooth-based connectivity features. It can allow riders to connect their smartphones and access additional features such as navigation, call notifications, or music playback.
The upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is set to receive an upgraded liquid-cooled engine paired with a 6-speed gearbox. Projections indicate that it will produce 30 bhp of maximum power and 40 Nm of peak torque. It marks to be a notable improvement over the current Himalayan 411 model, which generates 24.31 PS and 32 Nm.
Several users have reported performance issues with the current Himalayan model, but the new Himalayan 450 is expected to address these concerns. With increased power and torque, the Himalayan 450 is poised to compete with the KTM 390 Adventure. Exciting features of the new model include LED lighting, a tall windscreen, USD front forks, stubby exhaust, and rear mono-shock suspension.
The longer wheelbase of the Himalayan 450 will enhance cross-wind protection and improve straight-line stability. Additionally, there are rumours that the Himalayan 450 will come with a smaller front wheel, making it a better fit for shorter riders. However, the current Himalayan model comes with a standard 21-inch front wheel.
