Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Rally variant caught undergoing tests in India

The excitement has really built up among adventure biking enthusiasts following the spotting of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Rally test vehicle in India. This new model will be packed with powerful engines, superior suspension, and rugged styling. Further, this will bring rugged capability for off-road adventures.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 aims to strengthen its position in the segment further, battling with other brands in the field of adventure touring. Spy shots reveal it to be sitting higher, with more upgraded parts and features rally-inspired graphics. Therefore, one would expect a much more performance-driven and rough bike. There's all the more interest because bike enthusiasts do wait for the official release along with the specs.

Quick Highlights:

  • Rally variant designed for off-road performance.
  • Features rally tail cowl and knuckle guards.
  • Equipped with cross-spoke tubeless wheels.
  • Powered by a 452cc liquid-cooled engine.
  • Launch expected around mid-next year.

The rally version of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 was first tested on Indian roads. Moreover, the bike has been designed to really give off-road performance. The variant is based on the standard Himalayan 450, and certain parts are specially engineered in this variant.

Further, this bike features a rally tail cowl, cross-spoke tubeless wheels, and an upswept rally exhaust. The test mule also seems to be equipped with knuckle guards. Other changes to the motorcycle cannot be seen, but the rally version can be equipped with adjustable suspension, which might be present on its test mule.

The powertrain for the Himalayan 450 Rally remains the same. That means it still has a 452cc, liquid-cooled motor mated to a six-speed gearbox. We'll find out later if Royal Enfield will be updating any other features. Anyway, the base model offers an output of 40 bhp and 40 Nm of peak torque.

There is also the potential hardcore Himalayan 450 that would make for a great off-road choice. However, Royal Enfield has officially announced nothing about whether it will be launching this bike in India. If it does, though, mid-next year will be the targeted time for release.
