Royal Enfield Electric Bike To Be Launched By FY2027

Royal Enfield Electric Bike To Be Launched By FY2027

Royal Enfield is planning to enter the electric motorcycle market. Reports indicate their first electric bike might not be available until fiscal year 2027. In November 2023, they revealed their first electric bike concept, the Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric, at EICMA 2023. This concept bike serves as a test for future electric models.

However, it’s unlikely to be the first electric model they release. Adventure bikes need long-range for touring and off-road use, which current battery technology and charging infrastructure can't adequately support yet.

Royal Enfield Electric Bike

Royal Enfield's first electric bike is expected to be a retro roadster designed for city use and occasional highway trips. A prototype might be shown at EICMA 2024. The company confirmed the launch will happen in late 2025 or early 2026. It is expected to be priced at Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

Currently, Royal Enfield is focusing on expanding its 450cc lineup and introducing a new 350cc model. In the next few years, they plan to offer a complete range of 450cc bikes. Additionally, they are preparing to launch at least two new 650cc motorcycles for both local and international markets.

Royal Enfield EV Department

Royal Enfield is growing a new advertising and marketing crew for its electric-powered vehicle (EV) division. The company has hired the former Electric chief engineer of OLA, Umesh Krishnappa. Also, Mario Alvici, who formerly worked at Ducati, has joined as head of improvement.

Royal Enfield has been specialising in the EV area for a while. In 2022, their parent corporation, Eicher Motors, invested €50 million in Spanish electric-powered dirt motorbike manufacturer Stark Future. This investment indicators a dedication to go into the electrical bike market.

These steps indicate that Royal Enfield is serious about developing and selling electric motorcycles. This dedicated team will help them make a strong entry into the electric motorcycle industry.
