Honda unveiled the Star Wars edition of its Monkey bike at the Bangkok International Motor Show. This bike is created in collaboration with H2C Design. Moreover, it captured the essence of the iconic movie franchise with two variants on display, including Dark Side Monkey and Light Side Monkey.
The Honda Monkey has a rich history dating back to the 1960s. It retains its classic features like chromed high-rise handlebars and a peanut-shaped fuel tank. This edition pays homage to its heritage while adding a futuristic twist with its Star Wars theme. Although the Star Wars edition of Honda Monkey may not make its way to India.
The Honda Star Wars Edition of the Monkey Bike has some exciting updates. Now, it comes in two versions: one with a sleek black design and another with a striking white and grey combination. Both bikes come with a Star Wars LED light box, a lightsaber LED lamp, a Star Wars pilot jacket, and a keychain. These items are perfect for any Star Wars enthusiast.
Honda Monkey Star Wars fuel tank features 'Star Wars' branding. The Light Side Monkey variant's branding glows in the dark. Additionally, both versions of the Honda Motorcycles have carbon fibre air cleaner covers.
Furthermore, the side covers feature unique graphics reflecting either the Dark Side or Light Side theme. The Dark Side Monkey sports red rim tape, while the Light Side Monkey has blue rim tape. This edition maintains the Honda Monkey's retro design.
This Honda special edition bike has a Euro-5-compliant engine. Its 125cc air-cooled engine generates 9.2 bhp @ 6,750rpm and 11Nm of torque @ 5,500rpm. The Honda Monkey Star Wars Edition engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and offers smoother gear transitions.
Furthermore, it features a USD fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear end. It has a 220mm front disc and a 190mm rear disc, with standard IMU-controlled ABS. This ensures a comfortable and safer riding experience. Moreover, the Honda Monkey Star Wars Edition ensures a stable ride with 12-inch wheels fitted with chunky, block-pattern tyres.
This bike has LED indicators and a convenient ‘answer back' feature that flashes the lights with the push of a button. The bike retains its LCD instrument console and ABS system with an inertial measurement unit for added safety. Furthermore, the engine features upgraded internals, including low-friction coatings, an offset cylinder, and roller-rocker valve gear. The bike has a kerb weight of 104 kg.
The Monkey Star Wars edition will only be available in 150 units of each variant. Some of these bikes will be sold through a live auction at the motor show on April 7, 2024. Registration for the auction started on March 27. To participate, registrants need to bring ID and a security deposit of ฿1,000 (about Rs. 2,279). Winners can pick up their bikes from the Cub House Ekkamai location.
