BMW Motorrad delivered the 10,000th unit of their boxer-twin GS, the R 1250 GS Triple Black. At the same time, the Bavarian motorcycle manufacturer disclosed the release date for its forthcoming flagship ADV, the R 1300 GS. It will be presented on September 28 in Berlin to bike enthusiasts.
The new BMW R 1300 GS will be the replacement for the existing R 1250 GS and will be powered by a 1,300cc boxer-twin engine. It will be mated to a six-speed gearbox and produce 143bhp and 143Nm. It's also likely to include BMW's ShiftCam technology, albeit with a slightly different tune than the existing 1250 series.
Based on the test mules spotted, the design of the R 1300 GS is unveiled. It will feature robust bodywork with a tall stance and a masculine front that includes an LED headlight, a radar system, auxiliary lights below the beak, and a small visor above. It also features a twin-canister setup sourced from Akrapovic. It is expected to be lighter, louder and provide power to the motorcycle.
BMW may opt for a new frame design for the R 1300 GS and equip it with a front Telelever and rear Paralever springs instead of the current tubular frame. The smaller wheels of the bike's sibling are 17 inches in the rear and 11 inches in the front.
The upcoming BMW R 1300 GS is anticipated to feature advanced technologies such as LED lighting, radar-based cruise control, collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring. Its digital dashboard with GPS, riding modes, traction control, ABS, and other features add to the bike's impressive capabilities. The R 1200 GS from BMW Motorrad boasts impressive features and capabilities. The company plans to expand this motorcycle's sales to other regions after successful testing in late September.
