The new Yamaha R9 gets the same 890cc in-line 3-cylinder as the MT-09, along with a host of new advanced electronics. Yamaha has been updating its supersport portfolio and very recently updated the YZF-R3 for MY25. But more importantly, it has taken the wraps off the Yamaha R9, a whole new chapter in supersport motorcycles that promises category-defining, class-leading design from enhanced aerodynamics. New Yamaha R9The all-new Yamaha R9 will finally satisfy the demands of supersport enthusiasts for cornering speed. The motorcycle is focused on bringing excitement to the track for several international markets. Priced at USD 12,499, which is around Rs 10.5 lakh, the R9 can be purchased in the USA market and is likely to reach other countries soon. Striking Design and Aerodynamic Excellence of the Yamaha R9Yamaha R9 will be available in three colors: Team Yamaha Blue, Matte Raven Black, and Intensity White/Redline. However, the Intensity White/Redline model displays subtle graphics, while that model boasts bold decals. The Team Yamaha Blue even includes blue alloy wheels; the other two have black wheels. The R9's track performance is powered by its CP3 engine and lightweight Deltabox Gravity Cast aluminium frame, making it Yamaha's lightest supersport chassis to date. With a 50:50 weight distribution, the R9 promises excellent agility and handling that make the motorcycle more accessible to a wide range of riders. This bike follows Yamaha's latest R-Series styling with an M-shaped front duct, angular LED DRLs, and functional aerodynamic winglets that draw design inspiration from MotoGP machines. These also help clean the airflow and deliver additional downforce for better high-speed handling. For the rider, the motorcycle comes fitted with a TFT colour display featuring various functions. Electronics and Engine SpecificationsThe Yamaha R9 comes fitted with a new 6-axis IMU, which enables 9-level Traction Control, 3-level Slide Control, 3-level Lift Control, and a system called Brake Control. Other key electronics include 4-level Power Delivery Mode, 2-level Engine Brake Management, Variable Speed Limiter, Yamaha Ride Control, Back Slip Regulator, cruise control, and Launch Control. The powertrain in the R9 is shared with the MT-09: an 890cc DOHC 4V/cylinder liquid-cooled inline 3-cylinder. Moreover, the engine churns out about 120 PS of peak power and torque of about 93 Nm, routed to terra firma via a 6-speed gearbox. Front suspension is by fully adjustable 43mm KYB USD front forks, while at the rear, there's an adjustable KYB rear mono-shock. Stopping comes courtesy of dual 320mm front discs with Brembo Stylema callipers. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels on Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport tyres, in sizes 120/70 at the front and 180/55 at the rear.
