UPCOMING: Yamaha R3 Coming To India, Here’s What to Expect

Yamaha Motor India has finally revealed its 2023 Yamaha R3 to select dealers. This could suggest that the brand will soon launch the bike in the Indian market. It will directly compete with the KTM RC 390 in the market. So, let’s take a look at everything it has to offer.

Yamaha R3 Expected Price in India & Launch Date 

Before Yamaha R3 was discontinued, it held a price tag of Rs 3.51 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the new model will come equipped with tons of upgrades, as seen over the years in the international market. These might lead to taking the price up a notch. As a result, the expected price might be somewhere between Rs 4 lakhs to Rs 4.2 Lakhs in India. 

As for the launch date, Yamaha will probably launch the 2023 R3 during the festive season later this year, maybe between October and November. Bookings are expected to commence in July. 

Yamaha R3: Expected Specs & Features

The new R3 Yamaha bike is expected to be more aerodynamic and with styling similar to the older-gen R1, its bigger sibling. It will come with a full fairing featuring split headlamps with an air intake in between. Furthermore, it will have a split seat setup for added comfort for both rider and pillion with a sharp tail section. 

The new Yamaha R3 engine would remain unchanged. It will continue to be powered by the same 321cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine, which will belt out 40.4bhp & 29.4Nm. The hardware on the bike will include disc brakes on both sides along with ABS as standard and upside-down forks in the front, and mono-shock at the rear. 

Yamaha R3 will be packed with value-adding features that will give tough competition to its direct rivals - KTM RC 390 & Kawasaki Ninja 400. A few highlighting features include:

• Dual-channel ABS, 
• LCD instrument cluster 
• LED lighting for the headlamp and taillamp
• Upside-down forks with golden fork bottles
