Suzuki’s electric scooters in India are known for their reliability, fun to ride and fuel economy, giving you good value for your money. Do you know? Suzuki holds the third position in sales in India.
The Suzuki Access 125 is a big reason for this success, contributing more than half of Suzuki’s sales. To keep up this momentum, Suzuki may introduce an electric version of Access 125.
The company's first electric scooter, based on its well-liked Access model, is expected to soon be available in India. Following Suzuki's successful two-year testing of the Burgman Street electric, the next electric scooter is anticipated to be called e-Access. The design will closely resemble the conventional Access model, with a distinct 'blue' paint scheme symbolising its eco-friendly nature.
While specific details about motor capacity, battery, and range remain undisclosed, Suzuki aims to match the performance of a 125cc scooter. To manage costs effectively, Suzuki plans to limit extravagant features, keeping an eye on competitors like Honda and Yamaha.
Suzuki Access Electric is expected to resemble its traditional counterpart but may include some retro design elements to make it stand out from other scooters. Moreover, It could feature an LED headlamp, a digital instrument cluster, and connected technology. Higher variants may offer a touchscreen display with navigation.
Although precise numbers are unavailable, one charge is expected to give you between 100 and 150 kilometers of range.
The e-scooter will also get tubeless tires on 12-inch alloy wheels. Telescopic forks in the front and a monoshock with preload adjustment at the back are two possible suspension components. A dual braking system will ensure safety, with a disc brake in the front and a drum brake in the rear handling the braking.
Suzuki Access Electric is set for a September 2024 launch in India, with an estimated price range of ₹1,00,000 to ₹1,20,000. Similar offerings in the market include Lectrix LXS, Odysse Hawk, and iVOOMi Jeet X, with Honda Activa Electric, also set for release in July 2024.
Suzuki: Future Action Plan
This brand leads the two-wheeler market in India. Its lineup includes two scooters, four sports bikes, and one tourer motorcycle that is yet to launch.
Suzuki earlier launched the 110cc Hayate and 125cc Slingshot motorcycles. However, the company stopped producing these models as sales declined.
Now that sales and brand value have increased, Suzuki is thinking about going back into the commuter bike market. This action may indicate a strategic expansion by the corporation, with the goal of gaining a larger market share and catering to the changing requirements of Indian riders. As Suzuki looks over its next step in the competitive Indian two-wheeler industry, keep checking back for updates.
