Sales Of Top 10 Two-Wheelers In July 2023

Two-wheeler sales declined in July 2023, with the top four leading players reporting lower sales on a YoY basis. The sales fell in July 2023 due to several reasons, including heavy monsoons and a shift towards EVs due to high petrol prices.

Total sales of the top ten two-wheelers declined 9.45 % to 8,52,479 units in July 2023 from 9,41,398 units in July 2022. MoM sales fell 2.49 % to 8,74,237 units sold in June 2023.

Hero Splendor

Despite YoY and MoM growth decline, the Hero Splendor remained the best-selling two-wheeler in India in July 2023. It commands a 26.84 % market share. Sales of Splendor were 2,28,847 units, which was an 8.61 % decrease from the 2,50,409 units sold in July 2022. Moreover, MoM sales declined by 3.98 % from 2,38,340 units sold in June 2023.

Honda Activa

The Honda Activa was ranked 2nd with a YoY decline. In the previous month, its sales dropped by 36.71 % to 1,35,327 units, down from 2,13,807 units sold in July 2022. MoM sales increased by 3.44 % from 1,30,830 units sold in June 2023. Honda Activa also achieved a 3 crore unit sales mark in June 2023, completing 22 years in the country.

Honda Shine

Honda's Shine motorcycle was also in the top ten two-wheeler sales in July 2023. Its sales declined by 10.11 % YoY to 1,03,072 units in the previous month, compared to 1,14,663 units sold in July 2022. MoM sales were similarly negative, falling 21.87 % from 1,31,920 units sold in June 2023.

Bajaj Pulsar

Indeed, there was a decline in sales of the Bajaj Pulsar range of motorcycles which fell by 13.69% YoY. The bike saw a drop of 17.96% MoM, which was 87,958 units sold in July 2023. There were 1,01,905 units and 1,07,208 units sold by Bajaj Pulsar in July 2022 and June 2023, respectively.

TVS Jupiter

TVS Jupiter sales increased by 7% YoY to 66,439 units in July 2023, up from 62,094 units in July 2022. MoM sales saw a decline of 3.40 % from 64,252 units sold in June 2023. The TVS Jupiter ZX Drum SmartXonnect variant was launched earlier this month for Rs. 84,468 (Ex-Showroom).

Other Two Wheelers

The list of two-wheelers also includes the HF Deluxe, sales of which fell by 32.34% YoY and 26.15 % MoM. Suzuki Access sales increased by 24.71 % YoY to 51,678 units, up from 41,440 units in July 2022. MoM sales increased by 30.82 % from 39,503 in June 2023. The list includes the Honda Unicorn at 40,119 units, TVS Raider at 36,900, and XL100 at 36,208 units. All of which had YoY and MoM sales growth.
