The Bobber will be the first 750cc model of RE and will release in 2025. Royal Enfield, the world's largest midsize motorcycle manufacturer, is expanding its lineup by venturing into the 750cc segment. The company is working on a new platform with codename R. It will serve as the foundation for multiple variations of a 750cc motorcycle. The first project under this platform is codenamed R2G, which involves the development of a 750cc Bobber motorcycle.
The development of the 750cc motorcycle is taking place at Royal Enfield's tech centre in Leicester, UK. The upcoming bike is expected to be the largest in Royal Enfield's portfolio in decades and will occupy the top position in its product lineup. The move comes when brands like Harley-Davidson and Triumph prepare to enter the midsize segment to compete with Royal Enfield in its domestic market.
According to Managing Director Siddhartha Lal, Royal Enfield focuses on midsize motorcycles, from 350cc to 750cc. This expansion completes Royal Enfield's powertrain portfolio, which spans 350cc to 650cc engines.
According to sources, the 750cc engine being developed by Royal Enfield is an evolution of its existing twin-cylinder 650cc engine. This engine caters to key international markets such as North America and Europe. The primary aim is to provide an upgrade option for owners of 350cc motorcycles in emerging markets and offer an appealing alternative.
The company's strategy involves introducing multiple product offerings for each engine displacement, apart from the 750cc Bobber motorcycle, the first project under the new platform. Royal Enfield is exploring several other ideas for future models.
Regarding future developments beyond the 750cc range, Royal Enfield may explore electric vehicle options. The company has shown interest in EVs, and if they decide to introduce larger-displacement models.
