River, a company based in Bengaluru, has introduced Indie, its first electric scooter, which features a variety of cutting-edge technology. So how does it compare to the Ola S1 Pro, the most feature-rich electric scooter in India? Let’s find it out.
To begin with, the River Indie receives a boxy, tough, yet cool design language that is also quite functional and offers a variety of attachment alternatives. The Yamaha Neo's e-twin scooter's LED headlamps in the front have a similar appearance.
The Ola S1 Pro, on the other hand, features a flawlessly simple, curved design with flowing lines.
The River Indie has a top speed of 90 kmph and a claimed real-world range of 120 kilometres when powered by a 4 kW motor and 4 kWh battery pack. These are commendable numbers for an electric scooter.
The River Indie offers the most storage of any scooter, with a total of 55 litres, including a 43-litre under-seat box and 12-litre front apron storage.
Although the 36 litres of under-seat storage for the S1 Pro is by no means negligible, it doesn't appear all that spectacular in comparison to the Indie right now.
The Indie has a telescopic fork, a dual-shock suspension system, and disc brakes on both ends. It is equipped with broad 14-inch wheels.
The Ola S1 Pro, on the other hand, has a mono-shock, a single-leg telescopic fork, and disc brakes on both ends. In addition, it has 12-inch alloy wheels.
The Indie has three ride modes, Eco, Ride, and Rush, coupled with a six-inch LCD console, USB charging, and parking assistance. However, both Bluetooth connection and navigation systems are absent.
On the other hand, the seven-inch touchscreen console with themes, complete navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, notifications and music control, among other features, make the S1 Pro famous. Moreover, it has four ride settings: Eco, Normal, Sports, and Hyper.
The Ola S1 Pro is priced at Rs. 1,29,999, while the River Indie is priced at Rs. 1,24,999. (both ex-showroom Bengaluru, including Fame II). So you may choose between the River and the Ola if you want a tech-forward e-scooter that is still somewhat practical and robust. Nevertheless, River is still setting up dealerships, and e-scooter deliveries won't start until August 2023.
On the other hand, Ola is accessible throughout the nation through direct delivery as well as through the brand-new experience centres opened in important Indian cities.
Do check out how River Indie stands against its other competitors in the Indian electric scooter market!
