Yamaha Motor India is one of the biggest manufacturers in the country, offering a wide variety of options for its customer base. One of the most loved bikes is the Yamaha R3, which was discontinued a few years ago because of the new emission norms. But last year, in November, the company brought it back.
The Yamaha R3 was one of the bikes that were displayed at the recent Bharat Mobility 2024 event. And today, we are giving you a detailed review of the same.
When you look at the Yamaha R3, it looks very sporty with a sharp headlamp design (sharper than the previous model). The bike comes with a new 37 mm USD Fork for suspension. It comes with a layered side fairing with a Yamaha logo on its fuel tank. The tail section and the exhaust part remain the same as in the previous model.
The riding position on this remains comfortable with a 780 mm seat height. And even though the overall styling is very sporty, the seats are very comfortable and spacious. The lean-down on the handlebars and the footpeg placement are not too aggressive either.
The Yamaha R3 is powered by the 321cc parallel-twin engine that generates 42 bhp @ 12,000 rpm. This bike offers great tractability at low speeds, too. You can easily ride in 4th/5th gear below 40 kmph without any issues.
One thing to note is that the clutch on this one is a bit heavier than one would expect. Nevertheless, it still rides very smoothly on an open road. Apart from this, the acceleration is also very good; you can reach 0-100 kmph in around 5 seconds and reach a top speed of 170 kmph.
The new Yamaha R3 weighs around 169 kg, making it comparatively lighter and easy to manage. Its handling is low effort, quick and capable. The Dunlop tyres on this might feel a bit greasy on the edge, so you might want to be a bit more cautious.
The Yamaha R3 is a very simple bike as compared to its current rivals. It lacks a ton of much-needed features like:
Yamaha R3 price in India is fixed at Rs 4,64900 (ex-showroom). It directly competes with KTM RC 390 (Rs 3.18 lakh) and Aprilia RS 457 (Rs 4,10,012).
