Maxi Scooter was spotted Near the R & D Centre in Jaipur and could compete with Aerox 155.
Hero MotoCorp's introduction of a new maxi-scooter appears to show that Hero is expanding its focus on the premium segment. It is evident from the recent launch of the Xtreme 160R 4V and the upcoming fully-faired Karizma bike.
The new Hero maxi-scooter could feature a 163cc engine borrowed from the Xtreme 160R. This engine choice suggests a focus on providing ample power and performance for the maxi-scooter's brawny proportions.
The sighting of a test mule near Hero's R&D centre in Jaipur, which closely resembles the scooter revealed in the design patent. The development of the scooter is progressing well. The test mule indicates that the launch of the maxi-scooter could be expected around the festive season or by the end of this year.
The split headlight system, angular front fascia, stylish rearview mirrors, and crisp turn indicators are some of the essential features of Hero's first-ever maxi-scooter. The scooter will likely have all-LED illumination distinguished by a stubby upswept exhaust. The side panels include bold design elements contributing to the scooter's athletic appearance.
The stepped seat's raked form guarantees a dynamic posture while allowing maximum control and handling on congested metropolitan streets. The single-piece seat appears comfortable for both the rider and the pillion. The rear rack indicated in the design patent is not present on the test mule. The back rack will very certainly be available as an option. The handlebars of the scooter are ergonomically situated.
Although it needs to be clarified from the photographs, will Hero's upcoming maxi-scooter most likely include a completely digital instrument console. It might get telematics features, which would be accessible via the Hero Connect smartphone app. It will have features such as an Ignition alert, SoS alert, accident/crash alert, topple alert, over-speed warning, theft alert, and battery removal alert. Geofence alert and remote immobilisation are some of the important telematics functions.
Hero's upcoming maxi-scooter is speculated to be a competitor to the Yamaha Aerox 155. The Hero scooter might borrow the 163 cc, air-cooled engine from the Xtreme 160R. The engine of the bike can produce a maximum power output of 15 bhp and 14 Nm of peak torque. In comparison, the Yamaha Aerox 155 is equipped with a 155 cc, liquid-cooled engine, generating 15 PS of power and 13.9 Nm of torque.
The Hero maxi-scooter features telescopic forks at the front and a single-sided monoshock unit at the rear for suspension. It is also expected to have a disc brake at the front, with single-channel ABS offered as standard. One notable feature mentioned is the large alloy wheels, likely to be 14 inches in size.
To attract customers, Hero might offer their first-ever maxi-scooter at an affordable price point. The Hero scooter could be launched for around Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Yamaha Aerox 155 has a starting price of Rs 1.43 lakh.
