Recently, Kawasaki has discontinued the Ninja 400 bike in India. It's not even listed on Kawasaki's website. They were selling it until they ran out of stock after launching the new Ninja 500. Now, the Kawasaki Ninja 500 takes the place of the Ninja 400 in India.
The company used to sell it as a completely built unit (CBU) in India. It used to cost Rs. 5.24 lakh, which was the same price as the Ninja 500 when it came out in February 2024.
Kawasaki sold the Ninja 400 in India for a few years. It was meant to replace the older Ninja 300, but the Ninja 300 is made in India and costs less. Since both the Ninja 400 and 500 were priced the same, Kawasaki decided to discontinue the 400 in India and worldwide. Moreover, Kawasaki offered big discounts to clear out the remaining stock.
Kawasaki Ninja 500 comes with a redesigned front and rear, plus a new digital screen that connects via Bluetooth. However, we were hoping Kawasaki would bring the Ninja 500 SE version to India, as it has a nicer green colour and a modern TFT display. The company has given dual-channel ABS and an LCD display that connects to Bluetooth.
Kawasaki Ninja 400 had a 399cc engine that made 44 bhp @ 10,000 rpm and 37 Nm of torque @ 8,000 rpm. It had a 6-speed gearbox. On the other hand, the new Kawasaki Ninja 500 has a 451cc engine that makes 45 bhp @ 9,000 rpm and 42.6 Nm of torque @ 6,000 rpm. It also has a 6-speed gearbox.
Kawasaki Ninja 400 has telescopic forks in the front and a monoshock at the back for suspension. It has disc brakes with dual-channel ABS. On the other hand, the Ninja 500 has a trellis frame with a 41mm telescopic fork and a monoshock. It rides on alloy wheels with tubeless tyres and has disc brakes.
