Introduction of Honda ADV 160, competing with Yamaha Aerox 155

Honda ADV 160 debuted in the Indonesian market. At first sight, the new ADV 160 seems very similar to the already existing ADV 150, which is also available in Southeast Asia and selected US markets. However, upon closer inspection, it turns out that the scooter is not only slightly more powerful but also equipped with upgraded equipment. In Indonesia, the price of Honda ADV 160 is IDR(Indonesian Rupiah) 39.25 million which is roughly 2.05 lakh in Indian currency. The price of this bike in India will be announced by the company during the launching period.

Honda ADV 160 Design and Features

The Honda ADV 160 is an upright maxi scooter with a rugged design. The ADV 160 is equipped with LED headlights, LED DRLs, a large windshield and a large under-seat storage area. Honda ADV 160 also comes with a new fully digital instrument panel that sets it apart from the ADV 150. In addition to the fully digital instrument panel, the scooter is also equipped with dual-channel ABS along with the support of traction control. The multinational brand, Honda also offers the ADV 160 with bronze multi-spoke alloy wheels, a curved exhaust and large seats.

Honda ADV 160 Specifications

Talking about the engine capacity, the new Honda ADV 160 is powered by a 156cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. The motor is capable of developing a power of 16 bhp and a torque of 14.7 Nm paired with an automatic transmission. The new model develops 1.4 bhp more power and 0.9 Nm more torque than the ADV 150. The scooter also has an available seat height of 785 mm and 30 litres of luggage space. In comparison, the Yamaha Aerox 155 is the only liquid-cooled scooter in India which will compete with Honda ADV 160. Yamaha Aerox has a 155cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which generates the power of 15 bhp and produces a  torque of 13.9 Nm.

Will it come to India?

Honda has reportedly filed design patents for the ADV 150 in the Indian market, leading us to believe the brand may be planning to launch the scooter in India. However, there is no word about the arrival of ADV 160 in India or when the brand plans to launch it in India. Further, if Honda will launch the ADV 160 in the Indian market, its rival will be Yamaha Aerox 155, which remains unbeatable in the liquid-cooled 150cc maxi scooter segment.
