India grants design patent for the Honda Beat scooter

Honda has filed a design patent for its Beat scooter in India, indicating that it plans to launch this highly talked-about model in India. The Honda Beat is draped in sharp lines and a sporty stance for the apparent attraction of an urban dweller with a smart and modern style. Equipped with ample space for the seat and storage for convenience in daily use, this bike is a compact and comfortable offering. The development reflects Honda's wish to increase its offerings in India, which promises to be a sunny spot for growth in the scooter market, with more two-wheeler sales forecasted for the future.

Quick Highlights:

  • Honda Beat design patented in India.
  • Features engine similar to the Activa.
  • Unlikely to launch in India soon.
  • Popular in markets like Thailand and Indonesia.
  • Designed for urban commuters with convenience.

Honda has officially registered the design of another two-wheeler in India, this time featuring a step-through styled scooter called the Beat.

Market Presence and Features

The Honda Beat has an excellent position in countries like Thailand and Indonesia. The Indian market does not have any scope for step-through scooters or any vehicle of this type. In the past two to three years, this Japanese brand has registered nearly all of its globally available range in India. This does not mean it will bring these products to India. Instead, Honda is resorting to design protection. There might be ideas to assemble these products in India for export to other countries.

The Honda Beat adopts a traditional floorboard body and comes with the same engine used in the Activa. It has a 110cc motor, which charges a 9bhp at 7500rpm of power and a peak torque of 9.2Nm at 6000rpm, thus making this scooter a power fuller.

The Beat has been marketed as a premium scooter featuring keyless ignition, 14-inch wheels, an anti-theft alarm, and an LED headlight. It has only one seat and a decent-sized grab rail. The Beat will be sold in several colour shades, depending on market demands and users' perspectives. Unfortunately, though, it won't be up for launch in India anytime soon.
