In the Kandahar teaser for his new film, Scottish actor Gerard Butler can be seen putting a KTM 390 Adventure through its paces. When Butler's identity as an undercover CIA agent is discovered, he attempts to escape by riding KTM's baby ADV through some of the streets of the arid city of Kandahar.
The 390 Adventure is certainly the ideal bike for an adventure because it is quick, agile, and has enough suspension travel. However, we are certain Gerard would have valued a pair of spoke wheels even more in his attempt to flee the bad men. These would soothe his riding experience because spokes are made to flex and absorb hits to a certain extent, enabling you to navigate difficult terrain easily.
You can see further into the trailer that the bike being displayed is the older, spoke-wheeled model that KTM released earlier this month, not the more recent alloy-wheeled one. But, of course, we Indians could really use a spoke-wheeled 390 Adventure, too, given that driving on our roads isn't all that different from what is shown in the trailer.
Gerard is a licenced motorcycle enthusiast who has travelled to the USA, Indonesia, and India. In the 2011 movie Machine Gun Preacher, the Hollywood heartthrob previously rode a black, custom-built 2010 chopper. The earnings from selling this motorcycle were later donated to the charity Angels of East Africa, run by American novelist Sam Childers, through an auction on eBay Motors.
