KTM's formula for an ADV built on its powerful 390 chassis has been extremely successful. Since the very beginning, it has been favourably received as a high-speed tourer. But as an ADV for off-roading and trails? Not really. KTM didn't provide enough off-road hardware, aside from ergonomics, to support the ADV moniker. To rectify this, the 2023 KTM 390 Adventure is designed. The 2023 KTM 390 Adventure was unveiled by the Austrian company.
KTM is revamping its 390 Adventure ahead of the release of the new-generation 390 platforms to keep up with consumer trends. Unfortunately, when it came to touring and light trailing, it was a formidable machine. However, customers who yearned for more off-road-capable equipment may finally rejoice with the 2023 KTM 390 Adventure.
The element that was most often requested is being provided by KTM; the metal spoke wheels, popular for being better at absorbing and dissipating shock than alloy wheels; these rims perform better in off-road situations. Off-road motorcycles and vintage motorcycles can be purchased with wire-spoke rims from manufacturers. Both standard cast alloy models and the "Spoked Wheeled" edition of these new wheels are available.
KTM didn't specify whether or not these new wheels are tubeless in the press materials. Tubeless spoke wheels are often only available with high-end off-road vehicles. However, the images of KTM wheels give the impression that they might very well be suitable for tubeless tyres. The exact same Continental TKC70 tyres that were previously mounted on alloy wheels are being used by KTM.
These exhibit block patterns and perform better at offering traction in challenging conditions. The actual wheels are composed of aluminium that has been black anodised. With this change, 2023 KTM 390 Adventure more accurately lives up to its moniker. Except for the new colour schemes, the rest of the motorcycle remains unchanged.
Both the standard alloy wheel edition and the spoked wheel model are available. The 44 bhp and 37 Nm single-cylinder, 373 cc fire-breathing engine is still used. This engine is supported by a steel trellis frame with front forks and rear mono shocks measuring 43 mm WP USD. The 5" TFT display from the previous model is still in use and displays a variety of capabilities.
Stability Control, slipper clutch, 46mm throttle body, Cornering ABS, OFF-ROAD mode (increased rear wheel slip), and linked OFFROAD ABS (disengaged on the rear, reduced on the front) are still available. Single disc setups at both ends, secured by BYBRE hardware, and a 4-pot calliper up front make up the braking system. 14.5L of fuel is included in the 172 kg weight.
Within a few weeks, the 2023 KTM 390 Adventure should come to India, and there's a significant chance the firm will sell the spoke wheels version as well. Price increases are likely when the newest version is released. The Royal Enfield Himalayan and Zontes 350T, among other models, will be competitors of the 390 Adventure spoke wheels model. Currently, the KTM 390 Adventure costs 3.37 lakh rupees (ex-showroom, Delhi).
