BMW Motorrad has unveiled the new R20 Concept motorcycle, which will be shown at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. The BMW R20 Concept bike features a larger 2000 cc air-oil-cooled Boxer engine. Its engine is upgraded from the 1800 cc engine of the R18. Moreover, the BMW R20 Concept motorcycle hints at a unique new street motorcycle from the company. Its striking design suggests it will stand out on the roads.
The new BMW R20 features a modern classic design. Its aluminium tank is painted in a unique “hotter than pink” colour. Polished and anodised aluminium parts, such as the cylinder head covers, belt covers, and air intake funnels. Furthermore, the single seat is made of black Alcantara leather and fine-grain leather.
This BMW concept bike has an integrated taillight that makes the rear compact. The headlight is a modern LED unit set in a 3D-printed aluminium ring with DRLs. The bike lacks mirrors, emissions components, and number plate holders.
BMW R20 Concept motorcycle features a powerful air-cooled 2,000cc Boxer engine. Moreover, the BMW R20 engine will generate higher power than the R18's 91hp and 157Nm of torque. The bike has a black double-loop main frame made from chrome-molybdenum steel tubes.
It rides on 17-inch wheels, with a 120/70 tyre at the front and a 200/55 tyre at the rear. The bike also has adjustable Ohlins Blackline suspension and an exposed drive shaft. Also, it has strong twin discs at the front handle braking. Moreover, this BMW bike comes with front twin discs with 6-piston callipers and a rear single disc with a four-pot setup.
BMW often turns its concept bikes into production models, which could happen with the R20 Concept. Currently, the BMW R Nine T is the company's Boxer engine street bike, but a production R20 roadster might appear in a few years.
As a concept, the R20 doesn't have a price yet, but it could go into production with some changes. The use of "Concept" instead of "Vision" in the name suggests it might follow past Concept bikes into production. BMW might launch the production version of the R20 in 2025. It’s likely that the R20 will also be available in India by late 2025, though it will be expensive.
