The 2023 Chetak electric scooter from Bajaj Auto has been introduced in India with a variety of features, visual upgrades, and an increased range. Furthermore, in an effort to increase production, the business claims that the 2023 Bajaj Chetak also boasts a more simplified supply chain in addition to aesthetic improvements. Together with the current model, which is now being sold for Rs 1.22 lakh, the new Bajaj Chetak has a suggested retail price of Rs 1.52 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom, Bengaluru).
The Bajaj Chetak in 2023 receives only minor, aesthetic updates. Three new colours—Matte Coarse Grey, Matte Caribbean Blue, and Satin Black—are now offered for the electric scooter. Also, the 2023 edition gains a larger, full-colour LCD digital console. But it’s still a round unit. The e-scooter also has a body-coloured rearview mirror, a satin black grab rail, and corresponding footrest castings for the passenger. Moreover, the model now has Charcoal Black finishes on the headlamp housing, indicators, and centre trim components.
The 2023 Chetak has also been modified by Bajaj to provide a wider range. As opposed to 90 miles, the electric scooter now guarantees 108 kilometres (ARAI approved) on a single charge (IDC as per AIS 040). The business claims that the actual range is currently 90 kilometres on a single charge. The battery’s capacity of 2.88 kWh has not changed. The same 4.2 kW (5.3 bhp) PMS motor that generates 20 Nm of peak torque provides the power.
Speaking about the updated Chetak, Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director of Bajaj Auto, said, “Building on the robust work done on our EV supply chain, we have surely and firmly commenced the scale-up phase. The Chetak’s premium and reliable image will be further strengthened by the new premium 2023 Edition. The new colours, the striking new display console and other exquisitely crafted features reinforce Chetak’s position as the most aspired electric scooter. The rapid progress of various supply chain initiatives and a secure outlook allows us to expand our network, ensure availability across it, and strengthen our product portfolio to cover different segments and price points. This positions us very well to harness the opportunity unfolding for EVs.”
On the production side, Bajaj Auto claims it has changed the supply chain paradigm through a number of collaborations with important vendors. This will lower the overall cost of the vehicle while assisting the company in producing over 10,000 electric scooters each month.
The 2023 Bajaj Chetak will still have an all-metal shell and an internal charger that can recharge the battery to 100% capacity in around four hours. Unfortunately, fast charging is not an option for electric scooters. Reservations for the 2023 Chetak can start now, and deliveries will start in April. By the end of March of this year, the business hopes to have more than 100 storefronts spread over 85 locations where it currently sells the e-scooter. Currently, there are roughly 40 Chetak experience centres, including service centres.
