Sales Report February 2023: Bajaj Auto Sales Witness 11% Dip on YoY Basis

Bajaj Auto Limited has released its sales report for the month of February 2023, revealing an unfortunate dip in YoY sales of 11%. However, the company did see positive growth in domestic sales of CV and two-wheeler vehicles. But a, significant de-growth was seen in exports, causing a negative impact on Bajaj’s total sales. 

Bajaj Auto has witnessed an 11% drop in its total sales, including commercial vehicle and 2-wheeler sales. As a result, the company sold 2,80,226 units in Feb 2023 as opposed to 3,16,020 units sold in Feb 2022. However, domestic sales saw a rise of 25%, with 1,20,335 units sold in Feb 2023 as compared to the 96,523 units sold in Feb 2022

Exports, on the other hand, did not look so good, It witnessed a drop of 37% as the total units shipped were 1,82,814 units in Feb 2022. This took the total sales of 2W sales down to 2,35,356 units in the month of Feb 2023 from 2,79,337 units sold in Feb 2022, resulting in a 16% decline YoY.

  • Dominar, 
  • CT, 
  • Avenger, 
  • Chetak electric scooters.

As for its Commercial vehicle segment, domestic sales saw an impressive rise of 103%. Exports, on the other hand, took fall by 42% YoY. Thus, making the total sales in the CV segment a 22% increase YoY to 44,870 units from 36,683 units sold in Feb 2022.

In conclusion; Bajaj Auto saw a rise in total YoY sales for the domestic market by 36%. The company sold 1,53,291 units in Feb 2023. However, the exports saw a dip of 38%, with 1,26,935 units sold. In addition, the MoM saw a de-growth, too, when compared to the total sales of 2,85,995 units sold in Jan 2023.

Bajaj Auto Year-to-Date Sales

Now, if we analyse the April-Feb 2023 sales volume of Bajaj Auto, there is a significant dip of 9%. As a total of 36,36,290 units were sold this year as compared to 40,11,245 units sold during the period last year. Domestic sales of 2W and CV saw an 11% fall, with 31,95,837 units sold this year, as compared to 35,80,532 units sold in April-Feb 2022.

Bajaj’s 2-wheeler sales, however, saw an 8% rise, with 16,53,596 units sold in the period of 2023 from 15,34,003 units sold in the same 2022 period. On the other front, exports dipped by 25%, with 15,42,241 units sold in April-Feb 2023 as opposed to 20,46,529 units sold in 2022’s same period.

As for the CV domestic sales of Bajaj, there was a positive growth of 89% with 2,66,499 units sold in the 2023 period, compared to 1,41,052 units sold in the 2022 period. Unfortunately, though, the exports didn’t have such an impressive number and fell by 40%. Bajaj sold 1,73,954 units as compared to 2,89,661 units volume sold in the same period the previous year. But, in total, CV sales ended positively by a 2% rise with 4,40,453 units sold in the period April-Feb 2023, compared to 4,30,713 units sold in April-Feb 2022.

This took Bajaj’s total YTD (2W+CV) domestic sales on a 15% rise, with 19,20,095 units sold. While, the exports saw a dip of 27% as 17,16,195 units were sold in the aforementioned period 2023, as compared to 23,36,190 units sold in the months of April-Feb in 2022.
