Greaves Electric Mobility's Ampere brand has launched its first premium electric scooter, the Ampere Nexus. Ampere Nexus Price starts at Rs 1.10 Lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in two variants: EX and ST. The higher-spec ST variant is priced at Rs 1.20 Lakh in India. Moreover, this electric scooter is now available in four different colour schemes, including Zanskar Aqua, Indian Red, Lunar White, and Steel Grey.
The Ampere electric scooter is not eligible for central subsidies under the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS). It will initially be sold at the introductory prices mentioned above, but these prices will go up by Rs 10,000 once the introductory period ends. The Nexus is more feature-rich compared to the Primus model, which it replaces in the Ampere lineup.
It gives tough competition to the Ather Rizta, Hero Vida V1 Pro and Bajaj Chetak. Ampere Nexus bookings are now open, and deliveries are expected to start in the second half of May.
Ampere Nexus electric scooter has some cool features. It has a special LED headlight with DRLs, turn indicators on the front, and an LED rear light. Moreover, the EX variant has a 6.2-inch LCD display that can connect to your smartphone for basic functions. The ST variant steps it up with a 7-inch touchscreen that connects via Bluetooth and WiFi.
Greaves Ampere Nexus features different ride modes and can automatically switch between day and night displays. This electric scooter can even update itself over the air (OTA). It has a spacious footboard and a comfortable seat with a stylish grab rail. There's a handy feature called "Limp home" that activates when the battery is low (below 20%).
Ampere Nexus has a motor placed in the middle, inside the swingarm. This motor is rated IP67, meaning it's protected against dust and water. It can produce a peak power of 4kW, allowing the scooter to reach a top speed of 93 kmph. Regarding Ampere Nexus Battery & Charging, it runs on a 3kWh battery and takes about 3.3 hours to charge fully. Also, it offers a range of 136 km after charging it full.
The scooter has a strong steel frame with a combination of cast and tubular swingarm. Moreover, the Ampere Nexus features a telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. This electric scooter has a disc brake in the front and a drum brake at the back. The Ampere Nexus rides on 12-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres for smooth and reliable performance on the road.
