Road-Legal KTM and Husqvarna Electric Bikes Set for 2025 Launch

Exciting news for electric bike enthusiasts: KTM and Husqvarna are revolutionising the market with their upcoming road-legal electric bikes, expected to be launched in 2025. Now also, two known manufacturers of electric motorcycles with the latest version of Venturing are benchmarks aimed at driving sustainable materials and high performance together. The KTM and Husqvarna electric models promise incredible range, advanced battery technology, and the agility and power their traditional bikes are known for. The move underlines a growing shift towards environmentally friendly transportation solutions for the development of Road-legal electric motorcycles, which highlights an important factor.

KTM entered the electric bike segment in 2011 with the launch of the Freeride electric Enduro bike. Despite KTM’s vast experience with EVs, it has avoided making Road-legal electric bikes—until now. In 2025, KTM and Husqvarna are scheduled to launch their first legal electric motorcycles, marking a new mark for both brands in the global market.  
 

Road-Legal Electric Bikes in 2025 with 5.54kWh Batteries  

Leaked documents submitted to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) suggest that KTM and Husqvarna plan to introduce the KTM ‘Electric Freeride (Road Legal)’ and Husqvarna ‘Electric Pioneer (road Legal)’ models in 2025. Both bikes are described as having a ‘5.54kWh Li-ion’ battery, indicating they will feature a 5.54kWh battery pack.  
 

It is compatible with the 2022 Husqvarna E-Pilen, KTM E-Duke, and Freeride E LV concepts, which all had 5.5 kWh battery packs. However, information on the electric motor’s output manufacture is limited. Of these reviews, the KTM Freeride E LV was found to be the most closer to the production. So, if the new model is based on the Freeride E LV, we can expect a similar specification.  
 

Since the Freeride E LV had a removable battery, it is expected that other KTM and Husqvarna electric motorcycles will also use replaceable batteries. Furthermore, as a founding member of the European Association of Replaceable Battery Motorcycles, KTM is working hard to perfect replaceable batteries for the motorcycles.
