BMW Motorrad is developing a new motorcycle, the R 1300 RT, which will replace the popular R 1250 RT. The international media recently saw a prototype of the R 1300 RT being tested on public roads. This new model will feature major design and performance improvements and is expected to be released next year.
The new BMW R 1300 RT looks different, especially from the front. It has a new vertically oriented LED headlight with daytime running lights (DRLs) on the sides. The windscreen is flatter and less slanted than before, and the rearview mirrors have been moved for better comfort.
The side fairing is also new but still big, like the old model. As a true touring bike, the R 1300 RT comes with built-in panniers and a top case. It offers you lots of space for luggage on long trips.
BMW R 1300 RT will have a new 1300cc boxer twin engine. It will produce about 145 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque. The bike will have a shaft drive system and a six-speed gearbox. BMW might also offer an automatic transmission option for this model.
The R 1300 RT will have plenty of electronic features. Expect multiple ride modes (including custom ones), traction control, ABS modes, and a large TFT screen with smartphone connectivity. The bike will also have BMW’s telelever front suspension for a smoother ride.
