Bajaj Set to Reveal Ethanol Bike Next Month

Bajaj Auto is ready to launch its most-awaited ethanol-powered motorcycle next month, representing a first-rate step forward in sustainable mobility. This trendy model is designed to run on ethanol, a cleaner alternative to traditional petrol, which allows to reduced carbon emissions and supports green transportation. It is predicted to draw riders who prioritise the surroundings and choose overall performance and sustainability. With this release, Bajaj targets to be a leader in inexperienced technology within the 2-wheeler industry, mainly to develop a sustainable Indian future.

Highlights:

- Expected to be launched in this financial year

- Could be launched under the Pulsar brand name

Responding to the government’s emphasis on inexperienced areas, motorcycle manufacturers are turning increasingly to opportunity fuels, such as CNG and ethanol. After launching the world’s first CNG motorbike, the Freedom 125, Bajaj Auto is now gearing up to enter the ethanol market with its first ethanol-powered motorcycle. This is anticipated to be unveiled in September 2024. The Indian market in this economy has given its production ready.

What Could Bajaj's First Ethanol Bike Be?

However, the upcoming Bajaj ethanol bike has yet to be confirmed. Will it be an all-new motorcycle like the Bajaj Freedom 125 or an upgraded version of the existing one to run on E100 petrol? Bajaj Auto can choose existing bikes from its lineup to reduce R&D costs. We guess that Bajaj's first ethanol bike could be a variant of Pulsar, a brand that is well-known among riders and has a strong brand memory.

Apart from TVS Apache RTR 200 4V E100, this is the only manufacturer that has introduced or launched the E100 bike in India. The Apache has since been discontinued in the country. At the India Speed Show 2024, however, several two-wheeler manufacturers showcased their E85-compatible bikes.

E100 ethanol bikes run entirely on ethanol fuel, lowering operating costs. However, ethanol is more corrosive than petrol and can lead to the deterioration of certain plastic and rubber engine components over time. Therefore, manufacturers will need to consider technological redesign to overcome these challenges.
