It appears that the Kawasaki ZX-4R for 2023 is under development. A leaked California Air Resources Board (CARB) permission document provides further details regarding the planned Japanese offering.
According to the aforementioned permission paperwork, the motorcycle will have a 399cc engine and be known as the ZX400SP. For its sportier Ninja models, the ZX-10R, ZX-14R, and ZX-6R, Kawasaki uses the ZX moniker in its current lineup. Therefore, if the ZX400SP develops into the ZX-4R, it won't come as a surprise.
The approval was granted by CARB last month, and Kawasaki has scheduled a new announcement for February 1 in the USA. Two covered supersport motorcycles, and two jetski-like constructions can be seen in the teaser image. Furthermore, it wouldn't surprise us if it shared an inline four-cylinder engine with its larger siblings. On the next Kawasaki bike, luxury features like dual front discs, adjustable suspension, and a plethora of rider aids can also be anticipated.
Since India is a price-sensitive market, Kawasaki will probably only introduce the ZX-4R there if it turns out to be the ZX-4R. As a result, only the Ninja 300 and the Ninja 400 are now available in the aforementioned class from Kawasaki, India.
