KTM India is all set to test its superbikes in Indian road conditions. The first models to be tested include the KTM 990 Duke, 890 Adventure, and 1390 Super Duke R. KTM aims to thoroughly test these bikes to ensure they can tackle India’s hot climate and challenging roads.
KTM 990 Duke will feature a 947cc liquid-cooled engine with a 270-degree crank, producing 121 bhp and 103 Nm of torque. With a slip clutch and quick shifter, it boasts a 6-speed transmission.
The design of this KTM bike has big tank shrouds and a headlight that is stacked vertically. It also features an adjustable WP suspension system and a steel trellis frame.
The upcoming KTM bike will have gripping Bridgestone tyres on 17-inch wheels. Additionally, 4-pot callipers are anticipated to be installed up front on dual discs. Completing the feature-rich bundle is a 5-inch TFT display.
This upcoming KTM bike is expected to use a 1,350cc engine, delivering 190 hp @ 10,000 rpm and 145 Nm of torque @ 8,000 rpm. With its lightweight Michelin Power GP tires and completely adjustable WP APEX shock absorber, the bike efficiently transfers power to the ground. This enables rebound, tool-less preload adjustment, and high- and low-speed adjustments.
For improved comfort and performance, the 48 mm WP APEX Open Cartridge fork offers suspension settings that are tailored. The bike now has a larger 17.5-liter petrol tank, an airbox and changed air intake, which improves ergonomics and increases range to about 300 km.
The KTM 890 Adventure comes in two colors and two versions, with a starting price of Rs 11.50 lakh in India and a top model costing Rs 12.50 lakh. It has an 889cc BS6 engine that generates 100 Nm of torque and 104.6 PS of power. The bike includes a 20-liter gasoline tank and disc brakes on both the front and back ends. This makes it a strong and adaptable motorcycle ideal for long-distance travel.
KTM also plans to improve the showroom and service experience, which is important for buyers of luxury bikes. Centres and dealerships are being completed in major cities to handle the sale and service of these super bikes. Operating and servicing larger bikes requires different skills compared to operating smaller bikes.
Also, KTM intends to launch bikes like the 1290 Super Adventure S and 890 Adventure R in India. The move is part of KTM’s strategy to expand its presence in the Indian market and meet the growing demand for high-performance motorcycles.
