Triumph India has officially launched the Speed 400 in India at Rs. 2.23 Lakhs after officially unveiling the Speed 400 and Scramble 400X in June. A 398cc, liquid-cool engine powers the new Triumph Speed 400, producing 39.5 bhp power at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm torque at 6,500rpm. The engine connects to a six-speed gearbox. The Triumph Speed 400 has a retro-modern design aesthetic.
The Triumph Speed 400 has a retro-modern design aesthetic. The motorcycle combines classic design elements with modern touches. The Round LED headlight provides efficient lighting, and LED turn indicators offer better visibility. A flat wide handlebar often provides a more comfortable and relaxed riding position.
Nut-shaped fuel tank adds to the distinctive visual appeal of the motorcycle. The one-piece seat design enhances the overall look, and the Tubular grab-rail offers additional support. An upswept exhaust design is often used to improve ground clearance.
The features of the Triumph 400 motorcycle include the instrument console and traction control. A Semi-digital instrument console that combines both analogue and digital elements. Switchable traction control is a feature that helps maintain optimal traction between the tyres and the road surface.
Heated grips for the Scrambler 400X model offer heated grips as an accessory. Readouts on the instrument cluster: The instrument cluster provides various information such as Speedometer, Trip meter, Odometer, Gear position indicator, Fuel level reading, Clock and additional readouts.
The motorcycle is equipped with upside-down front forks, and the rear suspension setup consists of a monoshock. A monoshock offers a compact design and allows for adjustable damping. It also features a rear and front disc brake setup. However, the braking system is equipped with dual-channel ABS.
The Speed 400 has a 300mm front disc, while the Scrambler 400X features a larger 320mm front disc. It is equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with road-biased tyres. On the other hand, the Scrambler 400X has a 19 inch front wheel and a 17 inch rear wheel. The Scrambler 400X also features dual-purpose tyres, with a 100/90 front tyre and a 140/80 rear tyre. The larger front wheel and dual-purpose tyres on the Scrambler model are designed to offer better off-road capability.
The Triumph Speed 400 is available at Rs. 2,23,000 ex-showroom, Delhi, for the first 10,000 customers. It positions the Speed 400 as the most affordable motorcycle in Triumph's lineup. It indicates a strategic move by Triumph to offer a more accessible option to motorcycle enthusiasts in India.
