The Simple Energy One will provide a 212 km IDC range with a larger battery.
Simple Energy has finally launched its Simple One Electric Scooter at a starting price ranging from 1.45 Lakh to 1.50 Lakh(Ex-Showroom Bengaluru). The Electric Scooter was first unveiled on August 15 2021, and since then, it has been updated several times according to the feedback received.
The Simple One has a 5kWh lithium-ion battery with two split packs; one is fixed, and the other is removable. The Electric Scooter Provides a claimed IDC range of 212 km, with 6 per cent SOC left. The permanent magnet motor of the battery provides 8.5 kW of peak power and 72 Nm of torque. It helps the scooter to reach a speed of 0 to 40 kmph in an acceleration time of 2.77s. Simple One can achieve a top speed of 105 kmph.
Simple Energy also claims that the portable and home charger can charge it from 0 to 80% in 5 hr 54 min. The fast charger network, which will be available from August, can charge at the rate of 1.5km/min up to 80%.
The Simple One is the heaviest compared to other mainstream e-scooters in India, weighing 134 kg which is 20 kg more than its pre-production scooter of last year. In addition, the seat height is now increased to 796 mm from the earlier version's 775 mm. The wheelbase measures 1,335 mm, 40 mm longer than the Ather 450X.
The scooter features a tubular steel chassis and is suspended by a telescopic fork/mono-shock setup. It rides on 12-inch wheels fitted with 90-section rubber. Braking duties on the Simple One are handled by a 200 mm disc brake at the front and a 190 mm disc brake at the rear.
The Simple One features a 7-inch TFT dash that can be attached to your phone by Bluetooth and used to handle both navigation and audio. OTA updates can be used to update the software. The Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic riding modes are available on the One. It has all-LED illumination as well as a boot light. While not segment-leading, the boot capacity of 30 litres is on the higher end of the scale.
The Simple One includes four single-tone colours and two dual-tone colours. The single-tone colours are Red, Black, Blue and White, while the dual-tone colours are White and Black with red alloy wheels and highlights. The dual-tone colour variants are priced at Rs. 1.50 lakh, which is Rs. 5000 more than the single-tone options.
The Simple is one of India's most expensive Electric scooters at Rs. 1.45 Lakh - 1.50 Lakh(Ex-Showroom Bengaluru). The Faster charger of 750W, which is expected to be available from August, will charge Rs. 13000 additionally.
The Simple One faces competition from other electric scooter models in the Indian market, including the Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X, TVS iQube S, Bajaj Chetak, and Vida V1 Pro. These rivals present a challenge for Simple One, which must differentiate itself to attract customers.
Deliveries of the Simple One will commence on June 6 in Bengaluru, with plans to expand to other cities soon after. Simple Energy aims to establish 140 to 150 showrooms across India within 8 to 10 months.
