Triumph’s discount couldn’t be more strategic. The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450, which will be launched on July 17, will be the main competitor to the Speed. The Royal Enfield is expected to be the most expensive 450cc bike in the lineup, starting at Rs 2.30 lakh, ex-showroom.
The Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X are the first models from the Triumph-Bajaj partnership. Launched in June 2023, Triumph reported that both models surpassed 50,000 units sold in 50 countries within a year. These countries include India, the UK, the USA and Japan.
Both motorcycles share the same platform but are designed for different purposes. The Triumph Speed 400 is a modern retro roadster, while the Scrambler 400X is designed for off-road and off-road use. The Scrambler 400X has large wheels, long-travel suspension and block-pattern tyres, unlike the Speed 400’s road-centric tyres.
Both bikes are powered by a 398cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 39.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm, coupled with a six-speed gearbox.
These motorcycles will be competing with the Hero Mavrick 400.
