River, an electric two-wheeler manufacturer based in Bangalore, has unveiled its latest product, the River Indie electric scooter. The company has provided information on the vehicle's pricing, features, and availability, and we at BikeJunction compiled the top five standout features of the new River Indie electric scooter.
The newly launched River Indie electric scooter is equipped with a 6.7kW (9 bhp) motor that generates 26 Nm of torque, coupled with a 4kWh Li-ion battery pack that is certified with an IP67 rating.
The company asserts that the scooter can travel up to 120 km on a single charge and can reach a top speed of 90 km/h. The 0-40 km/h acceleration time is estimated to be 3.9 seconds. Furthermore, the gradability of this scooter is rated at 18 degrees.
The standard charger can recharge the battery pack up to 80% in five hours. And a quick charging option is also available. The scooter and battery pack are covered by a warranty of five years or 50,000 km.
The electric scooter, River Indie, boasts a comprehensive list of features, including twin LED headlights with DRL, and LED tail lights. Further, the list continues with LED turn indicators, a hazard light, a boot light, and a six-inch digital display .
The safety features on the vehicle consist of a combined braking system, a side-stand motor cut-off function, two USB ports, a reverse parking assist, three ride modes (Eco, Ride, and Rush), and an IP67 rating for the motor and controller.
Additionally, storage solutions on the scooter include a 43-litre under-seat storage, a 12-litre glove box, a bag hook, pannier stays, and accessory mounts.
Featuring a sturdy build, the new River Indie electric scooter is characterised by a square-shaped twin-pod headlight, a curvy apron, foldable footrests for both rider and passenger, a step-up seat, rectangular tail lights, and 14-inch alloy wheels.
Furthermore, the Indie boasts equipment unique to this electric scooter, including crash guards integrated within the body panel, pannier stays, and a clip-on-style handlebar. The Indie is available in three different colours - Monsoon Blue, Summer Red, and Spring Yellow.
The Indie electric scooter has a steel tubular dual cradle at its core. The suspension setup on this electric scooter features telescopic front forks and twin rear springs.
Braking duties are performed by disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels, with the front using 240mm discs and three pistons, while the rear utilises a single piston and 200mm discs. The key dimensions of the Indie include a wheelbase of 1,365 mm, a ground clearance of 165mm, a seat height of 770 mm, and a water-wading capacity of 300 mm.
Currently, the River Indie electric scooter is available in a single variant with a price tag of Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Bangalore). Initially, the Indie will only be available in Bangalore, with pre-orders being accepted on the company's official website. The deliveries are expected to start in August 2023.
