Revealed: Here’s First Look of Harley-Davidson X 500

Harley-Davidson X 500 released its first look in China, and it is the second small Capacity Harley Davidson after the X 350. It has been working on two small-capacity motorcycles for the Asian market for a long time. It launched X 350 recently in China, and now the look of the Harley-Davidson X 500 has been unveiled in China as well. It comes with a 500 cc twin-cylinder roadster engine.

Design

As far as design, the X 500 looks likened to Harley-Davidson's Sportster group of bikes, particularly with the small LED headlight and short rear bumper. Despite this, it appears to be a Benelli Leoncino 500 with a few cosmetic tweaks to give it a Harley-Davidson appearance. A muscularly redesigned fuel tank with a capacity of 13 liters, a chunky one-piece seat, and a chopped rear fender give the X 500 a true Harley appearance. It will be available in black, orange, and silver colours.

Specifications

Harley Davidson X 500 performance package on offer includes a 500 cc liquid-cooled, parallel twin motor that produces 47.5PS of power and 46 Nm of torque. The engine is attached to a six-speed gearbox and has a claimed mileage of 20.8 kmpl. In terms of hardware, the X 500 features an upside-down fork (50 mm) at the front and a mono-shock at the rear, both of which are adjustable for rebound, and the rear shock is preload adjustable. Braking is likely managed by twin 320 mm discs in the front, and a 260 mm disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS, offered as standard.

The X 500 also has a seat height of 820 mm, and its ground clearance is 153 mm, which may not be suitable for shorter riders. When compared to the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, which has a similar twin-cylinder motor that produces slightly more torque but less power, it seems that the X 500 may offer a similar level of performance. However, other factors, such as handling, ergonomics, and build quality, may differ between the two motorcycles.

Price and Features

It seems that the Harley-Davidson X 500 will not have rider-aid features, but it will have all LED lighting and a semi-digital instrument cluster with basic readings. The pricing for this motorcycle is yet to be disclosed, and it will not be available in India. Instead, Harley-Davidson is planning to launch an India-spec 400cc roadster. If you are interested in the X 500, you may consider buying the Leoncino 500 instead.

However, if you are looking for a middle-weight retro-style bike, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 could be a good option. For Harley-Davidson fans from India, it may be worth waiting for the HD 4XX, which is expected to be priced competitively.
