Ola Electric has patented a brand new detachable battery, potentially revolutionising its future lineup of scooters and bikes. Currently, all models in the Ola S1 variety, inclusive of the S1X, S1 Air, and S1 Pro, use constant batteries, posing demanding situations like locating charging stations and coping with restrictive housing rules.
The new detachable Ola electric scooter battery will permit customers to charge batteries simply domestically or at work and facilitate brief swaps at charging stations. This innovation is ready to compete with Vida V1, the only other scooter in the segment with detachable batteries, enhancing convenience for Ola's growing customer base.
HIGHLIGHTS:
-New removable battery patented
-It could be featured in the upcoming electric scooters or motorcycles.
Ola Electric scooters are being featured with a new detachable battery. Currently, all models in the S1 Ola electric scooter variety, consisting of the S1X, S1 Air, and S1 Pro, use fixed batteries. This new patent opens the possibility of them being featured in upcoming products for the convenience of easy ride.
Swappable batteries offer a significant advantage over fixed ones in terms of convenience. Additionally, with fixed batteries, users are often faced with the challenge of finding a charging station or a plug point for a portable charger. Many housing societies have restrictions on the installation of charging points, making at-home charging a complex task.
While Ola’s Hypercharger network is a step in the right direction, it's not yet extensive enough to serve the large number of Ola S1 scooters on the roads. Moreover, finding an available charging spot at charging stations can be time-consuming, further adding to the inconvenience. Swappable batteries eliminate these issues by allowing users to charge them anywhere, thereby enhancing the overall user experience.

Swappable or removable batteries address these demanding situations with their easy use. By allowing customers to easily remove the battery from the EV and charge it at a handy plug point at home or work. Additionally, swappable battery charging stations provide a time-saving solution, enabling users to swap their discharged battery for a fully charged one within minutes.
If these batteries go into production, assume they will function in Ola’s upcoming electric scooters or motorcycles, some of which have been recently patented.
Currently, the Vida V1 is the simplest scooter in this segment, and it has detachable batteries, positioning it as Ola's primary competitor. Therefore, by introducing its detachable batteries, Ola aims to improve comfort for its developing consumer base.
