Ola Electric appears to be planning an expansion of its electric scooter range. The company recently unveiled its upcoming scooter concepts in a presentation.
According to the presentation, Ola Electric manufactures electric scooters for different segments. The company aims to expand its EV lineup with the launch of the S2 and S3 brands. While all current Ola scooters are under the S1 brand, the S2 and S3 ranges will bring a premium component to their offerings.
The presentation revealed five new e-scooters: three variants under the S2 variant—City, Tourer, and Sports—and two under the S3 variant—Grand Adventure and Grand Tourer. While these models may still be in the early stages of development, it is clearly Ola electric premium EV market ambitions, which it expects to expand in the coming years.
Ola Electric has confirmed that its upcoming products will use the Gen 3 platform, which will offer better performance and range. However, prices are expected to exceed Rs 2 lakh, so these products are expected to target a niche market.
Ola Electric has a history of showcasing many products and technologies, some of which eventually reach the market. However, it has struggled with aftermarket products for Indian consumers. Social media posts and articles indicate that many S1 e-scooter owners are having problems maintaining their vehicles. The video also shows customers scuffling with Ola service centre staff due to inadequate service. Addressing these issues should be a top priority for the company, as negative word of mouth could hinder its future growth.
