India's claim to become the global powerhouse for automobiles topping the charts by 2028, according to Road Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari. This statement came after India had just beaten Japan to become the World's third-largest automobile market. In the Automobile market Rankings, China now holds the top spot, with the United States ranking second.
Nitin Gadkari stated that at present, the size of the country's Automobile market is Rs. 7.5 Lakh crore, that is expected to grow and make India the largest Automobile market. He also said that this industry had created over 4.5 crore jobs and paid the most Goods and Service Tax to both Central and State Governments.
He expressed confidence that India will reclaim first place within five years under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, with the industry worth Rs 15 lakh crore. Furthermore, Gadkari emphasised India's potential to become the World's top economy, noting the country's rich raw materials and competent labour. He emphasised the significance of adopting futuristic technology and using India's technical skills and resources to attain this goal.
Gadkari highlighted the importance of India decreasing its reliance on fossil fuel imports, which currently amount to Rs 16 lakh billion annually. He pushed for using green hydrogen and ammonia as future fuels, aiming to transform India into an energy exporter.
Gadkari also addressed his research on the project of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which goes through Gujarat. He outlined several concerns regarding the project that needed to be resolved. The completion of the project will help the passengers to travel from Delhi to Mumbai's Nariman Point in under 12 hours. It will drastically shorten travel time between the two cities.
