New Honda Entry-Level Bike Debuts In India- Everything We Know So Far

Honda's EV strategy's first phase will see the global release of at least 10 electric two-wheelers by 2025. One million EVs are expected to be sold by 2027. And by the end of this decade, Honda EV sales are anticipated to exceed 3.5 million vehicles. However, Honda will continue to rely significantly on ICE-based vehicles for the remainder of this decade. As a result, Honda's total sales in 2030 will only account for 15% of EV sales. Switching to all-electric is a big effort that needs to be done in a planned, staged manner.

Honda Electric Bikes: Entry-Level

The Cub e, Dax e, and Zoomer e are three of Honda's most recent electric motorcycles that have been on display. These are based on their corresponding petroleum counterparts. The first country where these innovative e-bikes are being sold in China. Honda seems to be following an initial EV strategy similar to that of other OEMs, which calls for retrofitting electric motors into existing petroleum-powered vehicles.

In some international nations, a driver's licence might not be required to purchase the new Honda entry-level electric bikes. The reason for this is that the top speed is 15 mph (approx. 24 kmph). As a result, the range could be less than on typical electric bikes, but thanks to features like fast charging and battery switching, this won't be a problem.

Additionally, Cub, Dax, and Zoomer e come with pedals. Even if the batteries malfunction for any reason or if there is any other issue with them, the bikes can still be used as bikes. Users won't have to invest much effort to run them due to their small profile.

Because of their charming design, Honda's electric bikes are a fantastic choice for Generation Z. Honda makes sure that there are a number of options because the younger generation is more accepting of electric vehicles. New e-bikes from Honda are practical and have a straightforward design. These are most effective for hurried runs over city streets.

Honda’s electrified roadmap for India

There is no official word on when Honda electric bikes will arrive in India. Instead of attempting something novel for the Indian market, Honda appears to have opted for a safer option. The Activa Electric will be Honda's first electric two-wheeler for India when it debuts in January 2024. Atsushi Ogata, MD and CEO of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), has confirmed this.
