Made-in-India Aprilia RS 440 Twin-Cylinder Bike Set to be Launched in September 2023

Recently spied testing: Aprilia RS 440, which will feature a twin-cylinder engine, is all set to hit Indian roads in September 2023. The premium Italian bike manufacturer will be entering the Indian market with plans to reinforce and revamp the country’s 2W industry.

Apart from China, Vietnam, and Indonesia, India will be one of the primary production hubs where this model will be produced domestically to expand markets for Aprilia bikes.

The motorcycle will probably be shown in September, right before the first MotoGP race to ever take place in India, in which Aprilia will play a significant role. The sports bike was created with substantial input from the Indian market and will likely be produced locally in the company’s Baramati factory.

The midsize motorbike, internally known as the Aprilia RS 440, will compete against models like the Kawasaki Ninja 300/400 and KTM RC 390 in the fiercely competitive midsize motorcycle market. According to insiders, the model’s production is set to begin in September, and the company anticipates selling between 10,000 and 15,000 units annually.

Piaggio India collaborated with R&D facilities in China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Italy, and India to create this revolutionary motorcycle. Piaggio will probably use India as a platform to export this midsize bike, even if serving the Indian market is currently its first priority.

According to Diego Graffi, CMD of Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd (PVPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Italian Piaggio Group, over the course of the next ten years, the company plans to launch new vehicles, expand into new markets, including motorcycles, and strengthen its position in the Indian two-wheeler market.

“We will have some new products coming up in the two-wheeler space in the immediate term. We are going to refresh and enforce the performance of our Aprilia scooter to recreate the gap that we had with competitors when we started with Aprilia few years ago, and plus, we are looking at new segments coming forward because we feel that now, it’s time that two-wheeler markets also get some sort of segmentation.”

“So, the new philosophy of the group is to have a global approach with these kinds of products. So, it means that local production will most likely be something that will happen, along with production somewhere in the world. And then we will decide whether to export or not depending on the needs of the local market,” the top Piaggio official said.
