Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has been working hard to produce a self-balancing range of bikes. This technology will undoubtedly change the game and will especially be fruitful for the large & heavy touring, tall & bulky adventure bikes.
We’ve seen many scooters that now feature this future-forward technology of making the vehicle balance independently. Currently, Honda is working to incorporate the same technology in their bikes. With this technology, you won’t be struggling to keep the bike upright when at a standstill.
The brand will probably equip the bikes with a sensor that will detect when the bike is tilted to the left or right. The sensor will then counterbalance the motion by transferring small inputs in the opposite direction keeping the bike upright on its own.
This technology will particularly come in handy when cruising around on a heavy bike like Goldwing. The company has already filed for the patent that reveals the steering servo mounted on the bike’s girder fork. This will shift the fork along with the handlebar either way, depending on command issued by the onboard computer. This command will then take the bike’s lean angle and its speed VIA the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). Which then issues to the steering servo of the bike. In the patent application images, the new technology is seen on a Goldwing bike. So, it is possible that it could eventually be seen on an adventure bike like AfricaTwin.
Until further updates on this technology, check out the recently revealed Bajaj Pulsar 125 before its official launch.
