Honda has made a significant announcement by unveiling the Honda QC1 and Activa e. These two models are their first electric scooters for the Indian market. This is the much-awaited entry of the Japanese giant in India's fast-growing electric two-wheeler market. With the latest technology and environmentally responsible operation, both models are set to transform urban transportation. Let’s discuss both of the models in detail.
The Honda QC1 stands out with its simple design and minimalistic look. Featuring smooth lines, large body panels, and an apron-mounted LED headlight. Riders can choose from five stylish colors: Pearl Shallow Blue, Pearl Serenity Blue, Pearl Misty White, Pearl Nightstar Black, and Matte Foggy Silver Metallic.
If we talk about the engine, the QC1 scooter is powered by a 1.5kWh fixed battery setup. This engine has an impressive 80-kilometer range in just one full charge and a top speed of 50 km/h. Additionally, the best part is it takes only 4.5 hours to recharge the battery fully. Riders have the option to choose between two modes: Standard for everyday city rides and Econ for better efficiency. Furthermore, the scooter has a five-inch LCD screen, USB Type-C charging, all-LED lighting, and a 26-litre storage capacity.
The e-scooter QC1 comes with telescopic front forks and dual rear springs suspension. For better stopping, this model has drum brakes on its 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels.
The Activa e is a wonderful combination of smart features, power, and design. It comes in two variants: Standard and Sync Duo.
The e-scooter has two swappable batteries of 1.5kWh, with a 102 km range, known as the Honda Mobile Power Pack e. These batteries were developed by Honda Power Pack Energy India. Additionally, the company claims that they've already set up battery-swapping stations in Bengaluru and Delhi. Apart from these cities, the work is also being processed in Mumbai.
These batteries have the ability to power a 6kW permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that can produce a torque of 22Nm. The Activa e has three riding modes: Econ, Standard, and Sport, and it accelerates from 0 to 60 km/h in 7.3 seconds.
Riders who are tech-savvy will like its seven-inch TFT screen and connectivity features via the Honda RoadSync Duo app. Furthermore, the Toggle switch controls, navigation, and day/night modes enhance the experience. Honda's H-Smart key's Smart Find, Safe, Unlock and Start functions improve convenience.
In addition, the Activa e has dual rear springs, telescopic forks at the front, and a disc-drum braking system. Similar to the QC1, it will come in five eye-catching colours: Pearl Igneous Black, Pearl Misty White, Pearl Shallow Blue, Pearl Serenity Blue, and Matt Foggy Silver Metallic.
Honda will disclose the QC1 and Activa-e prices in January 2025 and start deliveries in February. Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru will be the first places where the Activa e will be available. However, Honda intends to add more cities in later stages.
Honda has demonstrated its dedication to sustainability and innovation by entering the Indian electric scooter industry. The business wants to raise the bar for electric mobility in India with the QC1 and Activa e.
