Intellectual Property Protection or Product Launch Preparation? Speculations Surround Recent Move by the Company.
In spite of not being commercially available in India, the Honda Forza 350 maxi-scooter has garnered significant attention in the past few years. As a sign of the company's interest in the market, Honda has recently secured a patent for the latest iteration of the Forza 350 design in India.
It is not uncommon for Honda to patent designs for their international models without launching them in our market. It simply suggests that this Forza design patent may simply be a means for the company to safeguard its intellectual property. However, there is a slight possibility that this patent could lead to the release of a new product in our market.
As previously mentioned, there has been significant interest in India surrounding the Forza 350 scooter. This has been previously validated by Honda's prior actions.
A few years back, the company imported a minimal quantity of these scooters for a dealer exhibition. Further, each one was successfully sold by the end of the event.
Therefore, while the market for such a maxi-scooter may be restricted, there is evidently a particular demand for it in India.
The Indian scooter market is evolving, prompting manufacturers to introduce larger, more high-end offerings. In the previous year, two Keeway 300 cc scooters were launched. Also, the BMW launched the impressive BMW C 400 GT.
Given the circumstances, it is possible that Honda wishes to experiment with the Indian market. Only time will reveal the company's intentions. Well, Honda fans are waiting for the launch of Forza 350 in India. We anticipate that Honda can launch the Forza 350 with a price above Rs 5 lakh, which should not come as a surprise.
